Poor performance campaign, please help. [PC]

Hi All,

I started playing this game with the free multiplayer.
I tweaked the the game with most of the settings on ULTRA and it ran smooth.

Now for the first part of the campaign, the game ran smooth as well. However once you passed the first boss fight and take the elevator up to the surfuce, performance dropped massively to 22fps!!

I did not change my settings.
I did a restart on my pc and restarted the game.
It didn’t solve the issue.

Specs: 5900X, RX6800XT, 32GB ram.

Please help.

Thanks in advance

Mark

Ooh, this does not bode well for me. I have a 3900x and 6700xt. :joy:

Should’ve known with how poorly optimized the multiplayer was the campaign was gonna be unplayable.

I’m having the same issue on worse hardware.
I’ve noticed my FPS only changes by 5-10 between ultra and low, and even if i render at 2160 or 768p, my fps is almost the same no matter what.
Cpu utilization stays right at 53% as well.
So poorly optomized

Hi @RonaSeason2020,

But did you had a smooth experience prior to this date?
It feels so weird the days prior to today the multiplayer was very smooth. And now when the game officially got released, I’m having issues.

I also observed two more things.
My cpu temperature was running 10C hotter in multiplayer compared to yesterday.
Could be the cause of the update we had today, I don’t know.

Big Team Battle had some small FPS drops for me but never ever below 50 since the recent driver update. I expected 40fps at medium 1080p in campaign but man 720p low wont even go above 30-40 for me now, but multiplayer is still perfectly fine

The open world fps isn’t very good. A few reviewers have mentioned it. Hopefully it’s optimized… With 343 you never know if it’ll get done though.

Hopefully they will optimize this anytime soon.
Its a real horrible experience playing the campaign with 20 something fps.

€70 paid and it feels like a rip off.

I’m having the same problem, as soon as I came up to the surface, I was like, oh no… Only problems I had in multiplayer were maps like Highpower and Streets, everything else ran smoothly…

I did a quik replay of the intro just to check and verify if it has nothing to do with my hardware.

I have set the ultra graphics preset.
And this setting is giving me in the intro smooth 60fps with a few barely noticeable framedrops.

Once on the surface the performance sinks dramatically to 20fps.

I checked both my windows and graphics drivers are up to date.

I tried lowering the renderscale a bit and tuned down some of the settings from ultra to high to aim for a more playable framerate, but that doesn’t seem to help much.
At best I was getting barely 30fps.

Come on 343 industries what is going on??

RX6800XT as well here. The same problem: first missions were really smooth but then it take a turn to the worst: 20-27 fps in open world. Lowering the settings improves like 5 fps

I see some people calling it an “poorly optimized game”… bruh, no. I run the multiplayer at 30-55 fps with an RX570 and it looked GREAT. The performance is awesome, we have to give some credit to 343, even if they compensate that good work with all other awful stuff they have done.

I hope there is a fix soon, i saw an Update in the Xbox app, put the app is bugged and it doesnt let me download it. Why they make use their stuff if it doesnt work?

Using what should be considered an above average PC. It is being brought to its knees aswell. A somewhat steady 50 fps but itll randomly drop to 10 for about 20 seconds. Feelin a bit scammed.

When enclosed multiplayer maps were extremely performance intensive. It only made sense that the campaign open world areas would tank performance even more. The game is unoptimised.

Is it the LOD, the lighting, what is it? I just wanna lower something so it’s actually playable, but everything is as low as possible

Playing at 3440x1440 with a 3600 and 3080 and ive been getting 80+ fps with ultra settings.

Guys,

I have found the issue that was causing the poor performance.
It was the GPU driver.

Weird thing is that it was showing that the driver was up to date and that lead me to believed I was.
I checked and my driver version was 21.10.2

I checked the latest driver version on amd’s website and that is version 21.12.1.

Did a manual deinstallation and installed the new one.

Problem solved

Playing at smooth 60 with all settings on Ultra.

I hope this information will be helpfull to you out there as well.

Cheers Mark

Sadly that driver doesn’t help on RX 480/580/R9 users.
