All you guys seem to do is criticize it in every way, shape and form. The reason why it’s different and not halo 3.5 is because it isn’t part of the trilogy, bungie wanted to experiment in a new direction and it was meant to evolve the community.
I could understand you want your old halo back. But the current generation of gamers are evolving and want something new and to their social liking.
I have seen it all happen before.
People complained about halo 2 because it wasn’t like halo 1.
People complained about halo 3 because it wasn’t like halo 2.
People complained about halo reach because it wasn’t like halo 3.
So from my predictions, everyone might complain about halo 4 because it isn’t like halo reach.
We are also completely forgetting about ODST and Wars. To my opinion, Halo: Reach at least beats both of them.
Personally, I’ve been playing it recently and I still enjoy it. Matchmaking still works, campaign still feels different in an epic way, forge is still addictive and the game itself is still good as it was a year ago.
From what I see, it sounds like everyone is getting to the point where they are smashing up the disc because they lost a dmr dual of some sorts.
If you are still considering it’s a pile of poop of fail, then why do people still play it?
So what. The matchmaking is less appealing to halo 3 die-hards and the campaign had a potential.
It still has a brilliant graphics engine, armour customisation, good firefight, a good forge system and a neat exp and challenge system.
And then everyone is complaining just because of the multiplayer bloom and overpowered AAs?
We complain about halo reach because it IS terrible, not because its different from halo 3. Bad mechanics, terrible loadouts, possibly even worse maps. Because of this we long for the time when halo was good. Even most casual players hate Reach and have moved on. Oh and we won’t be reminiscing about Reach simply because nobody plays it. Oh and congratulations on beating an rts (not even made by bungie), and a campaign only-spin off. IMO though Reach doesn’t even beat those 2
people dont like reach because they forgot about the broken mechanics and hosts of halo 3.
people dont like reach because of poorly implemented mechanics like bloom and armor abilites.
both bloom armor abilities could have a great place in halo (more like the TU) if they were implemented like MLG AA and TU bloom from day one.
I see reach as a great game and a stepping stone for halo 4, which has a lot of potential. I cant wait to see what 343 has cooked up

come on, isn’t that a bit harsh and opinionated? you are a perfect example of the last line on the main topic.

reach had 100k people on it today for hours.
reach had 1000k games in the last 24 hours.
Its wednesday.
some people have moved off reach, but its a one year old game that still contests new releases like mw3 and bf3, that says a lot in my book.
And if youre gonna talk about a good game, dont even mention halo 3. Halo 3 had crap hosts, spread that was game breaking in lag, and garbage maps.
Halo 2 had excellent mechanics but too many bad connections and modders.
Reach’s netcode is far superior to the two and though I think halo reach has many mechanical flaws, the game itself is the best one on the 360 today.

not forgetting is uses the experience and learns from the older games to try and bring out what THEY SAW was good in halo. Sure, bloom and AAs pisses people off, I still been playing it today and got the same satisfaction I got in halo 3 (with special help from the classic maps!)
You forget to mention that a lot of people complained about ODST not being like Halo 3. Despite the fact that it’s an expansion off Halo 3!

Map control was good in previous halo games. What do they do? add jetpack that ruins this on every map. Strafing was good in previous halo games. What do they do? slow down movement and acceleration ruining that. Br battles used to be good. Now its a coinflip. and i can go on and on and on. Everything flaw that halo 3 had, was made worse. The only thing it did good was hitscan, (which is what people confuse for better netcode) and halo 2 already had hitscan anyway.

ODST was an expansion like halo anniversary. Both games are being complained about.
ODST wasn’t even about being an overpowered Spartan. The story was a little dumb at times but still had that sense of adventure about it!

Yo, you gotta be kidding. Nobody from MLG complained. It was a single player game. MLG doesn’t care a bout a single player game.

The transition between the two games is like getting out of prison. In halo 3, everyone was demanding new features to the game to make it more hardcore and have an extra tactical dimension. As soon as they get was they ask for and let out of their prison, they feel as if they have no objective any more so they end up ranting on something else.
O rly
Different peeps have different opinions and some folks are rather…uh…vocal about their stances. Also, their complaints are almost always of the same nature.
I don’t care WHAT people think ruined this or ruined that…if they voice their opinions they should do it properly.

So what youre saying is that the hardcore gamers got what they wanted with bloom , AA’s and bad maps? Adding on tactical dimension (even though AA’s don’t add a lot of tactical possibilities) is not worth it when you have to get rid of so many others in order to do so.
Not to go wildly off topic… but ODST was more of an expansion of Halo 2, from a chronological point of view

I just get pissed off when everyone on the HR forums criticize it for the same reasons and butthurt

I believe back in the days of the bungie.net forums, we asked for that. I mostly heard about jetpacks as the brutes had them all the time in halo 3.

To no surprise the Bnet kids asked for this. Bnet kids in general are people who don’t understand halo. They just don’t understand what kind of consequences something like a jetpack has on gameplay. Btw, if you think the hardcore players are on Bnet, think again.
