Spartans are supposed to be the most elite, well trained forces humanity has to offer; so why cant they figure out how to get behind something solid? I am playing the campaign again on legendary after getting the game yesterday and the spartan AIs just walk around in the open like a bambi who was born yesterday. It would almost be beneficial for me to kill them off before i start so i dont have to worry about them walking in front of me while i am shooting, although i dont know why they step in front of me so often seeing as they are programmed to move if you aim your cross hairs at them.
Does this bother anybody else?
It seems to me like there was a lack of effort put into there movements compared to other games in the same price range.
Halo AI has always been garbage.

Halo’s AI has always been sub-par. I used to give my rocket launcher to marines in Halo 2 since they got infinite ammo, but they would blow them selves up every time. The only real positive quality of the AI I’ve seen in in Reach, where the enemies (especially Elites and Skirmishers) were smart enough to evade when they were shot at. But now they just stand there…

They were 10x smarter than most FPS A.I.
Frequently dodging and rolling enemies are still uncommon in shooters, and especially around the time of Halo CE. Since the literal beginning of the series, it was known for it’s advanced A.I. properties. Enemies being able to focus on multiple different enemy targets at a time without focusing too much on one. Enemies could intelligently operate vehicles, dodge away from shots on-foot, (OR in a vehicle) Elites would aggro at certain distance, and each A.I. could pathfind their way to the player’s location from almost anywhere in the map. It was HIGHLY advanced. Still is.

No one. Ever.
Halo 5’s A.I. is in no way representative of the entire series. Even Halo 4. Go play the other games again.

I’d say that Halo’s AI is acceptable. A highly advanced AI in my book must be challenging and smart enough to make me feel as if I’m actually fighting a living, breathing enemy. F.E.A.R has highly advanced AI.

We all remember Kat in Halo: Reach. We also all want to forget that her AI ever existed, too.
