Usually people don’t think about sandbox interactions when they suggest based off “cool factor”. Look at Op’s follow up post after this initial poll post. He just thinks its fun.
I think jetpack would be a nice thing to have in Halo infinite aswell as
- bubble shield
- flare
- trip mine
- regen field
- jackal shield
- evade
- super jump
- curb slide
- ground pound
- smoke nade (like h3 flare but a smoke instead)
- combat jump (HW1 when the spartan jumps over the elite while shooting it)
-placeable turret
Many of these in custom games while some can stay in the Matchmaking like the bubble shield ![]()
what a dumb “idea” … its a gplaaple hook simulator already
YES YES YES! Would be extremely epic if they introduced assassinations along with jetpacks! Imagine grappling a spartan which are in the air with their jetpack, and you just assassinated them in the air with help from the grappling hook.
Could be some really interesting games if jetpack got implemented again.
Edit:
They could even make a new gamemode with jetpacks and grapplehook as the only equipment items available.
Lets say they could call it «Drone Slayer» or «Jungle Rumble»
I initially voted “No”, @Sodium_Bath 's comment changed my mind, I think the Jet Pack would be a worthwhile addition only if it is treated as a power up like Active Camo & Overshield.
I also agree with the idea of giving thrusters more functionality. I think it would be nice is if you could be breifly suspended in the air like in Halo 5.
Jet Pack would then almost be a combination of Grappleshot, Repulsor, and Thrusters all in one, which is why it should be a power up.
I’ve also seen the “Ground Pound” suggested, this is already a feature for the Grappleshot in Campaign, maybe they could add this feature in Custom Games or specific game modes as another “Power Up” (differentiate equipment color to indicate it is a “Power Up”). The same could possibly be done for Thrusters to give it the Suspension Ability while aiming & Spartan Charge while sprinting.
I’d rather we had no inherent damage modifiers attach to equipment, because it would be a little too much for what Equipment are meant to be. They should alter how the player can approach a combat scenario, but not make that approach be straight up a huge fist clocking their enemies. We have weapons for that, so let’s keep Equips simple, while game changing, if used properly.
The magic of H3’s equipment were how players essentially used them to create “zones” in which the players have to play around. This was lost entirely with Infinite’s equipment granting the user a strict one sided advantage to possessing it, so I feel that is already enough for equipment.
So basically you never learned how to work around it. Got it ![]()

The Grapplehook literally does what the Jetpack does but better
No, it literally does not. You cannot use grapple to gain height where there is nothing to grapple. I could easily make an obstacle course in Forge where you can’t get through it with a grapple, but you can with a jetpack, because you can hover and change direction in the air with a jetpack. You have almost no control in the air with a grapple. You can’t float in the air and shoot or throw grenades with a grapple. You also can’t cross big gaps if you can’t grapple that far, but you can jetpack stall, and regain jetpack energy while slow falling. Invasion maps in Reach in space you could jetpack across empty sky. Can’t do that with a grapple.
Yes. It LITERALLY does.
The Jetpack is so limited and temporary that you can’t even turn around because it’ll run out and you’ll fall before you can even do anything.
You have no idea what you’re talking about…
I wouldn’t be opposed, but we already have repulser jumping and a grapple hook. Why? Why would we use it when we have better options?
As special moment in the campaign or in the multiplayer, it could be fun
I want Grapplehook variants FAR more than a jet pack!
You say that like I didn’t use Jetpack in Reach and 4 for over a decade. Bruh, Grapple is not the same as Jetpack. It’s literally not used for the same things.
Both can be used for: Getting to a higher platform, skyjacking, reaching a nearby distance
Jetpack can be used for: Stalling a fall, infinite flight in customs, gaining height anywhere for rockets, snipes, grenades, whatever, and maintaining a certain elevation for a period of time, reaching distances a Grapple can’t reach
Grapple can be used for: Grapplejack, grappling the ground, grappling an object to pull to you, grappling an enemy
They have different uses. If you fall out of an aircraft in Halo Infinite with a Grapple, you’re falling to the ground. With a Jetpack, you can choose where you land. Master Chief wouldn’t have almost died in space if he had a Jetpack

Not In MY CUSTOM MCC MAPS! You have unlimited flight time with Jet Packs in my maps! Both In my H4 CTF Maps IE: Valhalla and in ExileI Way too much fun! Check out MCC UBA’s CTF Server if you don’t believe me!
PEACE!
Here’s another good one. I spent 99% of the Infinite Campaign spamming the Grapple button. You know what I didn’t do in Reach and 4? Spam the Jetpack. I had to play Halo like a Halo game back then, and the Jetpack was situational. Grapple is exploitable and ruins the Campaign experience by making the Campaign so dull and open, that you have no choice but to Grapple to get it over with faster. Grapple EMP slamming is just too broken to not keep using on every enemy and boss. I pretty much wasted no ammo the entire Campaign on all 4 playthroughs. Reach had really big multi-story maps in Campaign and Multiplayer. For some reason, there is nearly none of that in Infinite. Sure, you can spam grapple up the side of cliffs and buildings, but there’s usually nothing up there, and BTB maps put kill barriers to prevent you from getting up even slightly higher. Even Halo 4 had some decent Maps. That’s because they had Jetpack in mind when they made them. Grapple is obviously meant for spamming at the ground, the opposite of a Jetpack. People complain about Grapple all the time in Fiesta. Jetpack wouldn’t be broken in Fiesta.
Grapple isn’t better, it’s broken.
Jetpacks make me angry. I think this would make the game worse than it already is.
Well ofc you spent 99% in infinite by spamming grapple while in Halo reach or Halo 4 you dont have jetpack the entire campaign. Only few missions had jetpack.
But if you did have jetpacks, you would have been doing lots of speedruns
But in Halo reach custom games, you could fly from 1 edge of forge world to the other edge without touching the ground. There was a way you could climb as high as max altitude for air vehicles and stay in the air for unlimited amount of time
For me i want jetpack to be added to custom games since there was alot of cool modes that needed the jetpack to work
