The Grapplehook literally does what the Jetpack does but better.

Jetpacks are fun in Splitgate. But Halo has too many movement mechanics as it is. Jetpacks I don’t think will add much other than more desync frustrations.

I think a jetpack as a launch up ability could be nice (think thrusters, but up). Sort of like the repulsor, but higher and with some more control. Like, you launch into the air and hover for a bit.

This but I will say jetpacks would be a fun thing for custom games and specific modes. Shouldn’t be in the base MP.

I agree bud! :fist_right: :fist_left: It should be in Custom Games Only!

100% needs to exist for custom games, especially some customs that were made in Reach and 4. It would also be funny to grapple someone flying. I’d love to see what would happen in that situation. Grappling a jumping teammate makes you fly past them, so grappling a jetpack teammate might catapult you a far distance.

No, it literally does not. You cannot use grapple to gain height where there is nothing to grapple. I could easily make an obstacle course in Forge where you can’t get through it with a grapple, but you can with a jetpack, because you can hover and change direction in the air with a jetpack. You have almost no control in the air with a grapple. You can’t float in the air and shoot or throw grenades with a grapple. You also can’t cross big gaps if you can’t grapple that far, but you can jetpack stall, and regain jetpack energy while slow falling. Invasion maps in Reach in space you could jetpack across empty sky. Can’t do that with a grapple.

Not until desync is fixed, no.

How about armor lock?

F this poll and its tomfoolery.

Man, you got bad takes. Even if you’re being sarcastic here.
Anyways, I think the repulsor took its place. And it does a better job at it, the only way we’d see armor lock is as a super power ability.

Armor lock would be very fair and balanced in Halo Infinite, due to having limited uses, and already having tons of EMP weapons now. It’s also the funniest way to trash vehicles that try to splatter you. Armor lock could also have the ground pound ability in Halo Online, so when you Armor lock and don’t hold it, it makes not only an EMP explosion, but also a small gravity earthquake in the area like the Gravity Hammer, which would be great for flipping vehicles you just EMPd.

I think the repulser does a great job of replacing the jetpack. It accomplishes a lot of the same purposes, but having to aim at the floor for the boost is a nice balance tactic

Can’t remake Halo Reach and Halo 4 Customs or Invasion maps without Jetpack. Any sky, space, or underwater maps, you’ll definitely want Jetpack. Jump Rope definitely could use Jetpack just to hover in the air for a bit while tons of vehicles crash under you. Repulsor does what Grapple can’t, but still isn’t a good enough substitute

Customs.

But I want my bubble shield back first.

Hell no. Hated it in Reach and the vehicles are under powered enough in Infinite.

I would say instead of a jet-pack, why not have it simply be a booster pack that allows for a double-jump? Because quite frankly, the jet pack in Halo Reach and Halo 4 had a few problems -

  • you have to keep a finger pressing a button for a long duration, which can screw with your strafing, aiming, and other button inputs you might need to make use of.
  • you had a slow ascent, which made you an easier target to track.

I would propose a simple Booster Pack instead of a Jetpack as an option for vertical ascent, allowing for a double-jump akin to Metroid or Smash Bros. This would allow players the following -

  • Rapid ascent vertically rather than a slow ascent.
  • A single tap of the jump button or the equipment button instead of a long hold, thus allowing for players to retain their ability to reliably aim their guns or press other buttons.
  • You could change direction mid-air with the double-jump it provides, allowing you to be evasive when in the air by having the option to suddenly change direction, while still getting high up to possibly clamber on a higher surface.

To make the item even more interesting, perhaps we could bring back Halo 5’s ground-pound so that when players are equipped with the Booster Pack and in the air, they can hold the melee button and suddenly boost towards the ground for an evasive action and as a means to strike at other players down below?

Thoughts anyone?
