On, and while they’re add it they should add friendly fire back in as well
I would like to play a few weeks and see how it goes with collision off. FF can stay off because there too many dummies that can ruin the fun although may find other even annoying ways to grief.

Lol, old yeller treatment. This guy!
… pew pew
81/19 - ah yes, “split” feedback. The only argument in favour of no collision I’ve seen so far boils down to “it makes the game easier for bad players”, and that’s a terrible argument tbh.
Pretty much. Thats literally every argument.
NOT having collision fully enabled in a physics sandbox is kind of an oxy moron.
BTB, FF fully on, Collision fully on, and Jeff going “You Suck” when you screw up
Yeah this only works with Apex since there is only three people a team.
But we have teams of four in social slayer and teams of 12 in BTB.
This shit will be dumb for the first couple of weeks.
It’s always been here since OG halo. Were y’all always this bad if this is an actual pain point?
I vote yes. Collision Off favors the weak players who can’t be bothered to plan out what they’re going to do instead of just going out and spraying lead all over the place.
Yes, I suck at halo for the most part to the point the only halo I Have ever beaten on legendary is halo CE.
I am a casual player. Oh and the reasoning for the lack of player colision is do to it being a standard for pretty much any PC game. Seriously outside of CS:S most modern PC FPS games or long lasting ones don’t have team collision.
There’s nothing wrong with being casual or sucking, but you realise that makes your opinion kind of biased in favour of unintelligent gameplay and rewarding/coddling mistakes?
If you suck, you get stomped. That’s just the law of the jungle.
For Bot Slayer I’m okay with it being off. The compromise we currently have with it on in Ranked and off in Social is okay too.
Overall I would like to see it on, but I’m also in favor of any small changes made to be more accommodating to new players. Halo needs players, and if player collision off helps keep more around its a sacrifice I’m willing to make, as I’ve seen what Halo is like without players.
Hopefully it’s added to all modes later and there is no impact to player onboarding.
Which is why I have a mix opinion myself.
Personally I think Player collision and friendly fire shouldn’t exist in casual play modes. But in competitive They should be there.
But the topic doesn’t specify that and the poll is an either or, which makes the complexity of an opinion well less complex at a glance.
I suck, I know I suck. I also have extremely bad luck and local internet. That said I have been working to be better and eventually my opinion might change but for now. I am going to stay in my view.
The poll really needed the following options
- Collision and friendly fire should be removed in casual but kept in competitive
- Collision and friendly fire should be optional on the match maker.
I can already see the cheap damage stacking strats. Lol. 3 teammates can just stand inside of the flag carrier and 1 shot anyone in front of them in a hallway. 300% damage with no friendly fire; no collision. No careful thought or planning around the chokepoint. It’s going to be just as braindead as Overwatch. Just increase the Spartan count and you automatically win.
There’s also a pretty good gif that shows some of the confusion when two players of the same color phase through each other during a gunfight and the player loses track of the weakened opponent. Way more confusion and frustration in that scenario than when you slightly bump someone.
100% in Favour of Player Collision in MP. Same for Friendly Fire.
oh, not possible, as standing in each other causes your shots to hit the players in the pile, this doesn’t damage them but does mean that no shots go down range.
Yes, absolutely it should. A game with as much verticality in its maps as Infinite means there are plenty of opportunities for two players to “forego” the need for equipment with some clever butterfly jumps.
Right when the other team feel safe camping up high because they have control over the grapple and repulsor boom some clever team butterflied the sword carrier onto their tiny little platform!
That just sounds frustrating. At least exploiting it would provide some fun value.
Turning off collision is a little like putting the sides up when bowling!
My personal preference is to have collision on, as well as friendly fire. But this is what Halo is to me, and may not be to others. I at least hope these are turned on in Ranked matches, or at the very least a specific Ranked mode like “MLG”.
I can understand that they are expecting lots of new players to jump in who have never played a Halo game before, and want to make it as accessible to them as possible… while protecting others from new players lack of familiarity with the game, or even from the ones that just play not caring how they affect their teammates.
I have played every Halo since 2001, and have never once thought “I wish I could walk through my teammate”. I was disappointed with this decision in the flights, because I just felt it took part of the life away from the game. No friendly fire or collision just made it seem like my teammates weren’t part of my experience. Again, that is just from my preferred style for most shooters I play.
I will play and enjoy it either way, but I can see their being exploits that will cause just as much frustration… though from opponents, not friendlies. Plus, the doorway argument is weird to me, because 99% of the places you will be in with teammates have multiple pathways. If you cannot move around, jump over, or wait… then just go a different way. I have personally never experienced a time where I didn’t have a decent option to do what I wanted. And why is there collision with friendly vehicles, if not with players themselves?
