You can still get you shot blocked with it on. There is no difference.
I think 343 is confused about what is a āproblemā when it comes to collision. Getting sandbagged by a teammate when you are trying to retreat isnāt a āproblemā, itās how a gamers expect an fps to work. Bottlenecks are also not a āproblemā, they are what happens when an intensely important objective or item of interest is being hotly contested, and whichever team can play around that scenario the smartest, wins. Of course people get frustrated when they get sandbagged, but that doesnāt mean collision should be fixed, it means the sandbagger should learn awareness and not block retreats for their teammates, or just have smarter body placement in general. All of this is completely ignoring the issues that arise from flag carriers literally walking through their teammates like meat shields, or rocketing yourself to death on the back of a teammates head as he sprints through you. Collision was never a problem that needed fixing, it was a skill to be mastered by the players, and it should remain that way.
True, though walking through you from behind without any sort of bump is just plain obnoxious. At that point itās social with randoms so whatever, a good team isnāt doing either, but I digress.
Teammates soaking shots is a common tactic regardless. lol Itās a effective one. It does really matter if he is standing inside his teammate or if they were to swap positions so the first guy you were fighting can recharge.
If you never experienced it you probably have never played nearly enough Halo.
Actually, itās now a lot more simple now as players can occupy the same space, an infinite amount of players can occupy the same space.
So trading positions is far more easy.
I thought arguments for keeping it gone was to not have team mates behave as obstacles.
Compare having three players inside each other swapping out to soak damage, versus three players doing the same thing but with player collision.
Itās not as simple as that. Really good players maneuver in different ways. Often if you have several veterans on a squad they tend to take up the same space by habit because it has repeatedly given them success. Hard to tell if your bot teammate is going to run into you while throwing a grenade. Yes, I can look where Im going. but itās not me Iām worried about its the other morons that donāt have a clue.
What if the roles were reversed though? You trying to retreat only to have your idiot team bump you or block your path? Getting you killed, right after completing a running riot? lol You are complaining soaking bullets itās not the case. Player collision on or off whoever is in the front when take the damage. You are not going to have players walking inside each other the whole game. If you were in a 2v1 situation you were going to have to kill both players regardless of how you do it if you want to survive.
Shh⦠they might catch on
Why would it matter if itās reversed?
Heck, as IF I havenāt had high killings sprees get ended because someone was in my way.
Itās poor communication, itās bad team co-ordination, itās an accident, a lapse of judgement, a player having one bad match. Iām also guaranteed to have been the āidiotā at some point. Fairly certain most if not everyone has been the āidiotā at times. Shit happens, and with that in mind, you are also going to get kills on players who get blocked by their team mates.
What if, you get a running riot because an opponent got pushed out or blocked by one of their team mates, hm?
Unless youāre dyslexic, thereās no āmeā in āteamā.
I pointed out that trading places to soak damage is now far easier than with player collision present. Nothing more, nothing less.
The difference is I can choose which target Iām shooting at (or have a better ability to) if theyāre standing inside of each other, I have no say.
Given the % of votes, hopefully 343 see that collision should be on, as it always has been.
Bottleneck isnāt a reason to have it off, I donāt see 10 people getting on a metro and walking through each other.
I doubt itās as simple as just turning it back on at this point, never mind the systems and hitboxes and what have you, all the maps have been fine tuned without the consideration for player collision. If it were to simply be switched on all the annoyances would be much greater, and people that were not bothered by it would all of a sudden find it a huge issue.
Testing:
Halo Infinite should have collision turned on, my previous argument was not strong.
End of the day if itās on or off, or getās changed downnthe line itās ok. Just a divide that wonāt please everyone.
Would be nice if they did something to find a good balance, it sucks when someone in ghost pushes team mate across map on ctf
^ This. I hope 343 sees this and actually fixes this nonsense.
Even with player collision off I rarely used my repulsor/grapple ect while surrounded by friendlies. So, no if anything itāll just make the grapple harder.
And it should be.
Thatās just part of the game, not that it happens that often anyhow. Speaking as someone with over 100 days time spent in MCC at the top of the leaderboard 9/10 times.
People thinking no player colision is somehow good is crazy to me.
It should have it on similar to previous Haloās as brings different tactics and communication also.
People were already figuring out you can strafe with a teammate and basically take turns taking shots. And itās dumb someone can just walk through a teammate to escape, normally that guy would be stuck in a doorway and his buddy would likely also die after I threw a nade or fired a rocket. And if I do get a random teammate who decides to run through me and basically block my rocket all so he can go AR + beatdown, causing me to suicide instead of getting a double kill - Iām probably going to get banned from coms for a few days.
I see others saying itās dumb when you get locked out of a doorway but a teammate - itās a choke point - a potential strategic place to fight over - itās not my fault you play with people who literally just stand in a choke point and get farmed.
