Poll: Should Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Have Player Collision?

I am fine with it against enemies but I think not colliding with allies is for the best overall

Gee only 86%? Seems pretty split.

343 just making stuff up to avoid listening to the community, as per usual

Enenemy collision should absolutely be present, it’s breaking a lot of things with melee at the moment.
see:

But friendly collision should remain imo since it avoids people obstructing each other.

Player collision at least for enemies needs to be on, melee just feels off with out it.

Honestly, I’ve had so many issues with NO player collision already in just under a weak. I’m not even going to name them all its a rampant issue I run into every game.

Toys for Tots.

Seems split, there should be in-game polls if 343 cared about player feedback. That way all active players could have the option to vote, without removing them from the game.

What the poll has shown us, is that the more time people have had to play the game, the more the consensus moves to reinstate player collision.

This is pretty decisive at this point, about a week ago the poll was 83-17 now after people have had a chance to play it is 87-13.

I chose the need of collision.

My second game or some I had a melee fight with an enemy and suddenly the guy was gone. I was thinking: ā€œhow can this be, he was in a tight spot, how could I miss my melee?ā€, it turned out he just phased through me.
After this in all my other games that night the close combat fights just felt awkward and unlike all the halo’s I have been playing (all halo’s except 5), in a bad way.

I never had a problem with collision on before, I never thought I wanted collision off and I still think collision should be on. Most problems with collision-on that are mentioned are just poor tactics from the player (they should do something about that themselves) or trolls (and they will always find a way to be a troll).

Also, I want to mention that I specifically came to the forums to out my displeasure about no-collision. Furthermore, I am curious how 343 came to the conclusion that the community is split on this point; I want to believe them, but there are just to many signs not being a split. So maybe they could point out their sources or something.

Their data they collected from random surveys is hardly an accurate representation either. Nearly every comment on posts related to gameplay changes the top comment is ā€œBRING BACK COLLISION AND FRIENDLY FIREā€

Yeah it’s split, but it’s like 90/10 or at worst 80/20 lol

I have examined and tried the matter better… it is much better when collisions are active… It seems counterintuitive but there is much less confusion when they are active, not to mention collisions with the enemy which are FUNDAMENTAL

ā€œslows down the pace of the gameā€ spoken like a true nugamer who only enjoys constant run and gun and 0 thought gameplay

Can you go and play a twitch shooter like cod or something? There’s enough of them floating around, stop trying to turn Halo into one aswell (although it’s basically 90% there, they just need to lower the TTK slightly more than they already have)

No friendly fire

No collision

Lower ttk

ADHD run and gun thoughtless gameplay

Nade spam due to no FF

Headshot bonus on autos

Headshot bonus even on shields???

Pissweak vehicles

Terrible explosions

Awful shotgun

No region lock

Paywalled to the umteenth degree (don’t care
really, couldn’t give a -Yoink!- about cosmetics)

Weapons despawn in 2 seconds

BTB is an absolute mess

Audio is cluttered as -Yoink!-, beeps boops and about 3 people talking at once 2 of which can’t be muted

Scope glare for no reason other than as a crutch for players with no awareness

Oddball and flag don’t 1 hit

Cringey opening cutscene to every match that I can’t skip

Fire effects that look like they’re from Halo CE

Plasma pistols lost EMP

Pistol and AR don’t get descoped

Control is a -Yoink!- gamemode

Join in progress is a joke, I don’t want to be put into a game where I’m getting bummed before I have a chance to even start (and on top of that there’s no rejoin feature after a crash? Why implement join in progress if you can’t rejoin a game you were previously in???)

But yeah this is such a good game amirite?

TBF I love the abilities and the shock rifle, skewer etc. That’s about it. I wanted badly to enjoy this bit it’s not halo, it’s Halo lite.

I like your switched enthusiasm.

Actually, it’s a very good way to collect data on a matter.
Issues with it is the extremely limited time to play (not entire weekends but specific sections of the day ) and the so called ā€œhoneymoon phaseā€. Everything is good and shiny, barely any issues.

Now when there’s more experience and people settle in, now we experience more, now we see what people figure out with the system they didn’t have time to either learn properly or find out about in the flights.

Player collision needs to be on, otherwise immensely frustrating situations can occur that are entirely out of the player’s control. Sure getting trapped by other players can happen, but in those situations you can see what’s happening and react accordingly. How can you possibly react to a teammate sprinting through you as you shoot a rocket or throw a grenade and consequently commit suicide? Or worse in ranked kill both you and your teammate. Furthermore, melee currently has some awful interactions. I have been inside an enemy spartan’s hitbox and missed my melee attacks. How is that okay? It leads to some of the most aggravating and unfair interactions I’ve ever experienced while playing Halo. Is Infinite really better off with player’s learning to abuse the collision system win melee encounters against players who don’t know better?

I just want Infinite to be the best it can be, I’m passionate. I love this franchise more than anything.

without player collision, melee attack and near-body movement feels like crap

So I play controler, and its a huge disadvantage in melee skirmishes having this. they walk through and flick the wrist and they are turn around. If i hit them once they should still be in front of me… not pass right through. Its BS

No collisions?!? Are you having a laugh 343???

The amount of times I’ve gone to hit someone and gone through them, and then got hit myself is ridiculous!

I’ve had people try to hit me from behind, miss, and then I’ve got the hit on them.

It needs sorting out, bring back full collisions, both teams, no exceptions ASAP.

Who decided that it would be a good idea to remove them???

I’m dumbstruck…

I concur, being able to melee enemies is so very crucial in Halo and it’s so inconsistent and unwieldy in this game since players will phase through each other in melee encounters, absolutely ridiculous decision and has DEMONSTRABLY created more problems than it has solved. Although I use the word ā€œsolvedā€ extremely generously since the reasons that were given for collision’s exclusion in the first were extremely transient in the first place.
