Poll: Should Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Have Player Collision?

How about we just leave it like the last five Halo games.

Then this back and forth cycle will continue. Theres a way to please both crowds. As I said. Balance is very important for say, competive maps so no collision would be best there. In social balance isnt as critical, people should be allowed to mess around with colliding with each othet

HAHAHAHAHA! Just missed a melee because my teammate walked through my back and my enemy walked through my front.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Game is great either way, but I would prefer collision. Loving the game so far keep up the good work!

I like collision, it makes for some funny times in BTB, like when you’re running from an enemy and you are fighting to get through a doorway your teammate is blocking. I’ve always loved halo for the chaos, and player collision adds to that. What would Narrows in H3 have been if collision didn’t exist? I loved hitting other players in midair and hugging them as we both fell to our demise. Those are my thoughts. As for more competitive environments, I have a hard time believing that player collision actually had any large impact on performance. Competitive is not an area where you’re likely to run into (pun intended) many idiots who block doorways. I just do not believe that argument holds any weight.

In sum: Collision is great for social playlists, especially BTB because it leads to stupid funny moments that I think are a big part of halo. And in competitive, I truly do not believe anyone who argues that collision has even a small impact on one’s performance. Its a non-factor in competitive play, at least if you’re playing with people who know how to play the game at least decently. It should be in Infinite.

343, please. No colision keeps getting me confused and dazed in CQC.

The feedback is not split at all, fix this please. Its evident even from this small sampling that we need it back.

After playing the beta i truly believe this is a big issue.
Player collision is needed for physical interaction between players to feel ‘right’ and at the very least realistic.

I don’t see how the reasoning that you can get bumped by teammates is even close to a coherent argument. Part of a team game is being able to play with your team effectively, the removal of collision just removes a component of team play and im sure in some cases lowers the skill gap.

To be fair, 600+ people isn’t really a small sample.
I definitely was not expecting this poll to be as successful as it has been and there is clearly a large majority of players that don’t agree with 343’s decision to remove player collision.

Just to add in my two cents to the thread:
I believe player collision is absolutely necessary for a Halo experience. Here are my reasons:
-Realistic physics
-Immersion
-Teammate Interactions (butterfly jumping etc.)
-Enemy interactions
–>fights can become messy with multiple players phasing through each other
–>results in target prioritisation tropes, as multiple enemies can be in one spot, sponging your bullets meant for other enemies
-Requires awareness of teammates and enemies (Skill Difference)
-Necessary for many custom gametypes
-Makes Halo feel familiar (why fix what isn’t broken)

Hopefully, the reasons put forth within this thread will be persuasive enough for 343 to consider the larger community’s wishes.

Literally first hour of playing had a teammate walk through me when I had rockets and I suicide myself by shooting their back.

I wish I could share this a million times

You have been extremely lucky than. I have lost count of how many times a teammate has pushed me out from cover when my shields were down and got me killed. And I have seen them take my power weapon afterwards or tbag me and it ends up being a person bellow me in score.

I mean, doing something one way because it’s always been done that way is usually the best answer right?

/s

the lack of collision has caused many issues for me, but the one that almost had me throw my controller thru my tv was coming up on an enemies back ready to melee and next thing i knew another enemy phased right thru him like he was just hiding in the other spartans body. So my hit just registered as a melee instead of an assassination.

Nothing is better than that terrifying fear when trying to run away from enemies only to get stuck on a teamates in a hallway lol…… the mad dash and extream agony I feel when it happens is like the best thing ever lol… like those dreams where you can’t move lmao

And that is another good reason to have collision on. Both sides have made good points. That being said one side will be happy the other not. Only those we have open minds and see each side point of view we be happy or natural. With my replies I may seem on no collision but I could care less. Having it on takes cares or issues such as what @Stryke_07 and others including myself have experience. Then there are ones like @WhoLikesChicken and others myself included who have the bad luck of having to deal with a lot and constant bad teammates, who just show poor teamwork. Each side has pros and cons. Each person’s view is important to them and is driven by personal experience.

Was playing a ranked match and a teammate ran through me as I was throwing a grenade. Killed us both. Collision needs to be on…

I have a funny reason why I miss player collision.

.>Be me
.>Playing ranked with the squad
.>Pick up plasma grenades
.>nice.jpg
.>see enemy going for the sniper rifle
.>throw plasma grenade
.>my teammate walks through me from behind at the same time
.>sticky hits him in the back
.>he backs up and blows up in my face

feelsbadman. bring back collision

I really don’t believe people outright said “NO PLAYER COLLECTION PLEASE” and that 343i is just doing their own stubborn thing not listening to the community. The whole multiplayer experience reeks of bad decision making…

Halo infinite is going to die fairly soon, we all know it. We just don’t want to accept it. But once it does, it’s again too late for Halo. I’ve just come to these forums to see if people were having the same issues and apparently it’s just 343i not listening to fans at all.

Added to it. If multiplayer is anything to go by, campaign is going to suck too. Please hold onto your money.

I had almost this exact thing happen last night. Me and my friend meleed each other, I meleed my friend once, and then as I went to melee my target again, I swear he walked right through me and meleed both me and my friend. If enemy collision is on like people are saying, there is still something really weird going on.

Infinite could die if they don’t figure out their issues by launch, I agree. The issues are really not hard to fix though. They just need to stop fixing things that were never broken (to include the absolute joke of a paid BP)
