Maybe. Chaos everywhere is what I see happening though.
I would like to see that. Would make the gunner mod more useful as I see no reason for it not to apply to any heavy weapon.
While we are on the topic how about a new heavy weapon; a forerunner turret that shoots a continuous beam of hardlight; similar to the reach focus rifle or halo 2 sentinel beam.
As long as the Flamethrower is buffed to have longer range and/or have the fires last longer. Or make it like the Halo PC version where it isn’t a 3rd person heavy/support weapon.
Sure I’ll take a buffed flamethrower, but I’ve always despised the missle-pod. It was the reason the Rocket Launcher didn’t receive it’s lock-on feature from earlier and later games.
All weapons should return for Forge and Custom Games. I’d love to use the ODST Flamethrower again :’)
The Missile Pod was a good concept for a weapon in my opinion. Would definitely be necessary on 16v16 or larger maps.
As for the Halo 3 Flamethrower, it can die in its own fire. Slow movement speed and limited range are two very bad combinations. If we must have a Flamethrower, the Halo PC flamethrower is a much better choice.
I’m going to vote no, not because I dislike either of these weapons. In fact I love them. It’s just that on principle I don’t want any old Halo weapon to return to Halo 5 in a recognizable form. More than ever we have an excuse to start fresh.

I’ll agree on the missile pod as long as it can’t be ripped from it’s base. It negated almost all the Rocket Launcher’s usefulness. I hated that, and still do.
To the contrary I believe the Halo 3 Flamethrower was a great concept that just needed buffing. Better range in the flames and a better movement speed is all it needs.

The Missile Pod was made to provide a more balanced anti-vehicle lock-on weapon. The Halo 2 RL was crazy OP, that lock-on to everything was incredibly unneeded. I don’t understand how you think it made the RL almost useless, you just couldn’t lock-on to vehicles with it.

But it can’t be ripped from your loins and thrown into the face of an unsuspecting foe as an insufferable “FU I’VE GOT AN UNSTOPPABLY GOOD GUN!” Conceptually the missile pod was a better multiplayer weapon (not according to usefulness but gameplay quality) because for all its power and speed it also came with considerable drawbacks besides “LOLZ, IT MIGHT BE TOOOOO POWERFUL!” which is the forte of the Halo 2, 4, and Reach launchers. The pod could also be improvised as a counter sniper which helped mitigate the imbalances there too, so altogether its a far more deserving weapon to be in Halo 5 than the other gun it so horribly co-opted.
I agree with ya. I personally would say to modify these particular weapons for the next Halo. Like you say–“We need an excuse to start fresh.” The M45D Tactical Shotgun has been used quite a lot, and it’s getting a bit old really. You need something potent to take a horde of enemies like the Flood. I’m thinking an AA-12 automatic shotgun variant introduced in Halo. The M319 GL in Reach seems a bit like a sling shot with a grenade. A Milkor MGL combined with the Sticky Detonator will surely “blow the competition” in overkills by just having this weapon have sticky grenades. A bit too much for my taste, but it could prove very useful in enclosed spaces and vehicles. The T31 R Needle Rifle and T33 GML Needler could be combined to make a Battle Rifle variant or an upgraded Needler Assault Rifle. That’s what you call “Fearing the deadly Pink Storm”. Anyway, that’s all I got so far.
YES!

There is this thing called gameplay that has a pretty big effect on how people can have fun in the game. Honestly, I can’t see any of those ideas working well in Halo’s MM gameplay, despite how cool or realistic for the future they may sound.
For PvE or Custom Games weapons they could do, but I don’t see 343i creating many weapons just for FF/Campaign & Customs. If they were to though, I would be pleasantly surprised.
