POLL: OK Lets see who wants the BR in a BTB as a Starting Weapon

The Commando is a good weapon, and good enough to be a solid spawn weapon to allow people to have a chance to fight back.

All commando’s on the field being replaced with Battle Rifles means more BR’s to go around too. But not everyone will have access too those well rounded power weapons.

If there’s not enough BR’s to go around, why not start with a BR?

It’s not as skillfully demanding.

I’ve thought for a while that Commando starts would be better for BTB. It would give everyone a decent precision weapon, but wouldn’t hand everyone a cross map death pointer. AR-Commando or Commando-Sidekick, either way it would be a good middle ground.

Because not everyone needs to be packing a Battle Rifle. There’s a reason why you don’t spawn people in ( out side of niche modes ) with the best options…

My fave thing about BTB AR start is running round the map with my AR getting picked off by someone with a BR from distance. 343 you are so obsessed with levelling the playing field you have done the opposite. BTB is a total waste

Not what I said. One of the old concerns has always been the BR is just a better weapon than the AR and typically more skilled players use it. BTB usually has a mix of players, so it’s a hard sell for the BR over the AR usually in BTB, always has been. Commando would make that skill gap even larger.

I’ll happily accept commando starts, more kills for me.

You mean best options currently. The Commando is supposed to be better than the BR in regards to kill time. However, it pales in comparison.

The thing about the BR is its the best in reliability, but not kill time. The commando has a optimal ttk of 1.14s.
Pretty large difference from the BRs 1.55s.

Before the nerf, the commando was killing at exactly 1s. That’s faster than the sidekick. Why would you want to start with that?

I have the game open and I’m selecting each individual game for auto slayer.

Reach and 4 will let you search for it while CE, 2, and 3 will not.

This is such a good summary. My initial view was I’d be game for it to be introduced as an option/occasional like in Team Slayer, but your suggestion is so much better

It will still be used and us good players can do pretty good with it

Oh I guess h3 is a no go, but why would you want AR starts on h3 anyway when the BR is a projectile weapon?

I’m extremely worried about any buffs to the commando. It seems like the general community has no idea how to effectively use it, and it’s going to get buffed into a meta monster.

When I first saw the commando’s perfect ttk (during the flights), I decided to make sure and practice a lot with it. In the hands of someone who’s put in months of practice, the thing is only stopped by running out of ammo. I usually only lose to BR users if they get two shots on me before I can get counter shots.

The things super high skill ceiling makes me think there will be power players that would tear through almost everyone if it were a starting weapon…

That’s the way it should be though. The weapon rewards learning how to use it. The problem with the AR is that it is a brainless weapon that anyone can use optimally. The problem with the sidekick is that it’s so RNG spammable that it might as well just be an SMG because that’s how everyone uses it. At the very least the Sidekick being used in its precision capacity takes some brain power to use effectively.

But it’s exhausting how random every AR fight is, you can get the first half second of damage on someone and they can randomly beat you and there’s no logic to it

I have this bad behavior when switching to pistol to finish a kill, i just missed up its like a dis-advantage for high sensitivity players :face_exhaling:

Commando doesn’t need a buff, it needs a revert. Flight Commando was the sweet spot between skillful use and effective killing machine.

It was unjustly nerfed from 7 headshot kill to 8 headshot kill, and 10 bodyshot kill to 13 bodyshot kill. Considering the fact that the Commando closely reflects the Covenant Carbine, it was essentially intended to be the sandbox alternative to the BR, similar to the Covenant Carbine. (Fyi the Covie Carbine was 18 ammo, 7 headshot kill and 10 bodyshot kill, but without the bloom or recoil)

It was then nerfed from Flight to Launch for NO BLOODY REASON when people were more interested in getting the AR nerfed instead. Honestly I’m still confused as to why they nerfed the Commando. It seriously needs to just be restored to its original state which was both balanced and cohesive.

The only thing it needs is a little more aim assist. No bullet magnetism but aim assist. That way, you get a little more help but still have to keep the reticle on target to land your shots.

Where is the no stockpile start option?

I want the BR as is for BTB, with an AR/Sidekick secondary.
