Curious about this on these forums. It makes the game more competitive and makes new players more familiar with where things are, but it also removes the mystery and removes keeping timers in mind and makes maps a little less explorable in the first few games.
I see nothing wrong with keeping them. If anything, it helps newer players learn the map significantly faster then without them.
There’s still some exploration parts of maps too that aren’t indicated by navi points.

I do love that not everything has them. I’d love if the timer was removed at least.
Eh, I still feel it’s better for newer players to keep them in to help them more quickly understand the maps then anything. Even some of the most skill based shooters out there, like Quake now have timers and navi points for weapons, items and equipment in their games.

I guess it still doesn’t remove the option to roam around the map. I guess I just liked to do it cluelessly when I was a new player. I’d get dominated, but I still felt like being the new player, I could find something with a little bit of luck and trying to get to something before someone else…
It’s not bad. I’m not saying it’s bad. It’s just different. I guess different is neither good or bad. Maybe we can come to an agreement. What if they had maps that had them and maps that didn’t have them? Creating a balance between the mix of us that do and don’t like them?
Keep them in social, with the argumentation that @General_Fox already gave.
If you wanted to remove them, i would keep it to just ranked. But even than i don’t know if it’s realy necessary.
So I learned Halo from 3 and Reach. When I decided I actually wanted be good at those games, I hopped into forge and looked around the maps and learned spawns, and I think I’m better off because of it.
However, I think it’s ok if 343 wants to streamline the experience a bit, specifically for new players. Not everything is marked and there’s still a few things you can learn from studying the maps.
I do miss being able to completely deny the enemy an item by stealthily taking a power weapon and being the only player to know when it comes back. Being on the receiving end of this a challenge to try and watch for an enemy to make a move on the spawn.
I miss scouting for weapons on the ground, since now all the weapons are floating in the air or on walls, brightly glowing, with trackers, and appear marked from your scanner, but I have the same gripes about modern Monster Hunter too. Just because I enjoy exploring and feeling immersed, doesn’t mean casuals do. If casuals need the game to hold their hand with enormous glowing beacons that even the highest level of ADHD couldn’t miss, then so be it. At the end of the day, it doesn’t affect skill, and custom maps can have vehicles at base and classic weapon spawners. We aren’t entirely forced to make our maps like 343 does, so I’ll be neutral about it

I guess it’s my only gripe with the requirements. 1:1 remakes needing to be scaled up I was a little iffy on as it removed the ability for classic movement, but then I remembered the movement is fine and if the game changed it’s movement back to classic, it would probably slow down production elsewhere. I don’t know how they’re going to port so many maps to matchmaking.
