Of course people picked it up. DMR and BR where still more accurate at long range, I constantly switched between them. H5 Magnum was the weapon of choice, for sure, but mostly because you started with it and it worked very well.

Id like a slightly nerfed M6H in the sandbox as the utility for tactical slayer and some other customs but the sidekick should keep its place. Imo anyway.
Why would I compare the Halo 3 magnum to the infinite battle rifle? That makes zero sense and isn’t related to either of my posts whatsoever.
Yes it’s still hot garbage and only useful for a single headshot on unshielded opponents at close range. It’s one of the worst weapons in Halo 3 and the worst version of the magnum in all Halo titles. The rate of fire is egregiously slow to the point where the Halo 2 magnum is more useful, therefore picking the worst version of M6 to stack against the Sidekick makes a poor comparison.

Other: Halo 5’s pistol. That sh*t was perfect – skillfull, precise 5-shot weapon that required art.

That sounds like the problem then. People would pick up a DMR or BR in Warzone, but in any arena, the Magnum would dominate. I find that a problem if the whole idea sandbox is to combo your weapon of choice. Can’t do that if you are running around with the jack of all trades Magnum you get at spawn.
Hell, I am still pissed how I’m still getting out shot at long distances from a sidekick when I got a BR.

Played high diamond and onyx, ranked only. So I and guys I played with and against must be a rarity. ;D
… because in this example they are both mid ranged precision weapons. The purpose of the M6 Magnum I have described is to be a default ranged weapon… not to compete with a Sidekick.
You obviously haven’t been following along. Lets recap for you, right there in the orginal post:
Did you catch the part about good range? Where are you getting “only useful for a headshot at close range” from?
The point isnt to stack the Magnum against the Sidekick… I was VERY CLEAR in the OP keeping things simple, but I’ll summarize it even better for you:
M6 Magnum:
- Default Ranged Weapon.
MK50 Sidekick
- Skilled based counterpart to the AR.
Do you want default range or a gun that can challenge the AR in the same range. That is the question, not “how does the Halo 3 Magnum stack up against the Sidekick.”
