I’m going to say this now: this thread is not for those who truly enjoy this game.
I had never imagined myself writing a thread like this ever, but I can’t get away from it. Before I get into detail, I want to say that Halo has been my all-time favorite video game ever since I heard of it. I would play it with my cousin even before I was in my double digits, and when I was finally old enough to get my own Xbox, Halo 3 was the first game I wanted to get. I absolutely fell in love with the story, the gameplay, and even the flaws. Campaign was what I waited for between the 2-3 years of each game, not the gameplay. But then…Halo 4 came out.
When I was done with Halo 4’s campaign, I was simply in awe of how outstanding it was. I could not have agreed more with IGN’s review (which praised literally every aspect of the game). I loved just about every minute of it, and was glad to jump into Solo Legendary for sheer enjoyment. But then after a while, I started to really look at it, and saw that its imperfections were not admirable.
Explosions were severely downgraded from Halo 3-Reach, there were points where audio was absolutely terrible, and visuals after a while just got to be boring. There is no point for looking at differences between enemies, armor, or locations, because everything is boring and detail and imagination is minimal.
And matchmaking was a severe disappointment. The armor is terribly designed, graphics look too flashy and even more frivolous than Reach, and gameplay is just so unrewarding. I know video games are about having fun, but I don’t think I’ve ever been as competitive in a Halo game as I have with this one, and as hard as I try to be good in it my work is futile. Halo tried to get more modern, tried to get similar attention like Call of Duty and Battlefield, and it just didn’t work. I waited for Halo, not a system similar to just faking the government that you have a handicap and getting paid welfare from hard-working people’s tax dollars.
Everyone says “if you don’t like it, go play CoD”. Well, I think I will. I’m truly sorry 343, but this game simply did not hit expectations. I am a LE buyer, I have access to every specialization available, an amenity that most of your customers do not get to enjoy, and I don’t even want to keep playing long enough to hit level 70. I wanted a good campaign, and I got it. It was well written, despite giving it the worst Legendary ending I could have never asked for.
I will wait patiently for your next game to enjoy the next installment of Halo, but I will not wait with Halo 4. I am not in the slightest a Call of Duty fan, but Blops 2 looks like it fills every craving I could have for a single game, and it pulls of the loadouts and XP system way better than Halo likely ever will. I know what I want for Christmas now.
I have no doubt in my mind that 343 is doing the best it can to make Halo as great as we knew it was, but until it truly shows it is an outstanding title on its own, has its own mechanics that don’t remind me of other games, and has a great scripted campaign like I already know it can pull off, I am not interested in putting forth my money into Halo. I am absolutely heartbroken by this title, and it has shattered my view of the franchise.
Wait you say your heartbroken by halo 4 but don’t explain why. you say after countless hours of playing and fun you suddenly start seeing the negative aspects of the game, that makes little sense. you can nitpick and see negative aspects in any videogame. the armours have there unique look some look good some don’t. i admit playing the same maps get a little repetitive but that’s why i look forward to the new map packs coming out, also a game the size of halo there gonna be adding new playlists ( team doubles i hope ) you say your gonna go onto CoD one of the worst games ever made, terrible repetitive copy and paste game. look at the user reviews for black ops 2 even the mindless money throw away zombies, are starting to notice the games terrible. anyway to answer your question are halo 5 6 7 worth looking forward too? after reach i would of said no. after playing 4 hell f%$king yeah.
I think Halo 4 would be absolutely great but for it’s numerous ‘little’ issues that collectively form a whopper of annoyance. If a fair amount of those aren’t fixed I’ll probably become a detractor and that’s sad because I hate games like (C)shoot-in-the-foot-once-for-kill-(oD).
I enjoyed the game quite a bit. It was a refresh for me because reach was pretty bad. It didnt innovate, but it didnt have to. Its a great game that while it does leave me wanting more,I am most definately satisfied with it!
Unless I am allowed to have the full game experience that I paid 64 dollars for and rank up to SR 130 like most other people are allowed to, then this game is not worth staying loyal to. Not for me.

i have both. cods not bad, sorta like a next gen goldeneye 007 imo. halos better cause fights are long and you can be strategic and tactical, not to mention cods prestige system is too rinse and repeat for me but thas fine i just dont prestige. run and gun is fun now and then and will kill streak rewards arent very fair its fun to earn em. scratch both itches bro i encourage it. i xp capped early on today and had to play another game and i was reminded by my collection just how many AAA games are available that still have high online populations, a lil gears 3 some halo reach some forza 4 and a lil mk9 with my brother made for the perfect day today, which was grea cause i sure though my day was ruined when i xp capped. stupid 2x xp in spartan ops. anyhow if you do try out cod i hope you enjoy it, sure made me happy when i quit reach cause i got boring grey maps as filler for a lack of dlc. sure hope halo 4 keeps that too a minimum. the super great ones only please 343, and by that i mean maybe 4 total ever until the next xbox and halo 5 launch

I am going to write this post. It may not contain any paragraphs. But it does indeed have something very special and very important to say about this subject matter you should pay attention to. You see, I played halo since I can remember. Sorry, I don’t use breaks or paragraphs so this might get a little hard to read but I assure you all this is composed and very sound hearing information that I hope you don’t mind and find very important to read because otherwise this might be a problem on my personal beliefs and if you cant read this thats ok I understand. But what I am trying to say is I do not understand and don’t understand what is happening with this topic and thats ok because now I figured out everything and I can type just fine and read every paragraph ok.
