I want him to die like I did in HI PvP - by being put on Servers with 250 ms of lag and horrific desynch.

Jerome Kills him. Atriox is Cutter and the Spirit of Fire’s villain, not Chief’s. I don’t mind Chief squaring up with Atriox, but I feel it just cheapens HW2 which did so much to build Atriox up.
I mean, can they build him up any more? Having him be the reason Cortana is dead, destroying the Infinity and if we believe the Season 2 intro text led the Banished to conquer the Galaxy; that just overshadows whatever beef he had in Halo Wars 2. At this point he is a threat to the entire galaxy. I’d say that Carthage must be destroyed but, well… 
If anything I would have said they were over selling him as the character.
It doesn’t help that Halo games have been so heavily delayed that we haven’t seen much of him but the Banished were introduced in 2017 five years ago and we probably aren’t going to get a sequel to carry on Atriox story any time soon.
See considering so little happened in the first chapter of Halo Infinite it feels weird that they plan to throw Atriox, the Endless and Offensive Bias at you in one game. Especially a DLC.
I could see them delaying the showdown. But it will feel weird to sustain Atriox as the big bad when the Endless are more dangerous than the Flood and OB is floating about. Either you have to make him Thanos which just demeans your other villains or you risk deflating that whole thing. But you’re right, it would be odd to have made such a deal with him taking Cortana from you to not address that early on.
Could you imagine Atriox opening up the portal or jail or whatever they decide it’s called and is killed by them instantly off screen.
That honestly would be a classic example of 343 story telling.

Exactly. That’s the problem.
The whole game Escharum is talking all that noise about how the Banished are the greatest warriors ever, blah blah blah. Then 343 just has throw Atriox in there even though he doesn’t play a role in the story (beyond flashbacks). Now, if Chief was fighting alongside Red Team or at least if we got some info on what happened to the SoF, then I’d be more on board.
tl;dr Atriox doesn’t have to be the only source of conflict in the galaxy.

Ok that would be cool. He could be a more powerful warden that has a weakspot that is coverd. Look at the community making loads of ideas while 343 is struggling to make 1.
