I only see him dieing, either offscreen in a book to justify some dumb plot point like the Rookie did, or to make somebody else look better like Jul 'Mdama did.
Seriously, Halo 5 killed two characters for the dumbest reasons and both should probably be retconned.

I must admit that I just don’t care that much. He seemed like a cool character in Halo Wars 2, but I just don’t know him well enough to have any stake in how he dies.
He did kind of kill Cortana, destroy the Infinity and kill most of your friends.
He’s also a scumbag who is launching an unprovoked invasion of the UNSC and the leader of a criminal regime.
But I agree they haven’t really shown too much of him interacting with people. From the Encyclopedia and some of the towers in Infinite I don’t think he’s as sympathetic as most fans think. They seem to have him pegged as a freedom fighter; when he’s actually an Imperialist and fascist tyrant. Like Scholar Visari from Killzone; only with less sympathetic backstory than the Helghast.
