Poll for an Advanced Playlist

Now I’m probably a small minority of players that has disliked the decisions that 343i has made in terms of the direction they have made with Infinite’s equipment based gameplay. I personally find the decision to ditch the Spartan Abilities in favour of what we currently have is a regression towards the evolution of Halo. Some may disagree and that’s cool.

I believe for launch; there should be a playlist (let’s call it advanced slayer) that continues halo 5’s style of gameplay. I feel that since every entry of halo had an opportunity to have a classic playlist, it’s only right that we have a playlist that’s dedicated to the people that enjoyed.

Unless they’ve secretly already been working on this for years, there’s no way they’re going to arbitrarirly add in ground pound, evade, and the spartan charge from Halo 5. Those are major new mechanics that would require tons of testing for bugs that occur, and since these are movement and physics mechanics, it would require lots of testing and design for the maps to make sure things work both on a technical level as well as on a design level regarding balance and fun.

The Spartan abilities have tons of physics interactions with the rest of the sandbox.

It’s not happening. You just need to accept that.

Now, I very much enjoy Halo 5, and the Spartan abilities bring a lot of hilarity to the gameplay. Maybe if they add Halo 5 to MCC some day, you’ll have a decent stream of players to continue to play against, but we have to face the likelihood that given that Halo 5 already has a low player population, and that Halo Infinite will have free multiplayer and it will be the new hotness, the player base for Halo 5 is going to dry up. You better just accept that.

I love Halo 5. I loved Halo 2 (not so much Halo 3).

But Infinite needs to be it’s own beast.

I would prefer they dropped any notion of Advanced or Classic playlists and just moved forward (for the next decade) with Infinite playlists.
