They obey the Forerunners but they aren’t Forerunners. That was the point I was trying to make.
Yes I understand, I was more critical of the nature of promethens. To me, there are not human anymore, they aren’t even life form, just some sentinel with legs, arms and face
I do wonder though can they be turned back or is that permanent?
The librarian said Prometheans can’t be turned in biological forme again. Same thing for the former Monitor 343 Guilty Spark who can’t go back to Chakas again.
No some terminals did. Specifically frankies. While the core narrative explicitly stated the opposite.
Further didact and librarian were just 2 members of the caste/rate of the same names not godly characters.
And the subsequent info on those characters in halo 4 and the greg bear nivels fail to corroborate the series of events iutlined in those outlying terminals.
Halo 3 told us we were forerunners and to denying that is just silly.
It wiuld be lile denying prometheans are human in halo 4.
Halo4 retconned the franchise like reach did before it. No reason to argue against a straight fact.
I prefer separate. I like the idea that Forerunners failed, and they leave us their legacy in hopes that we do a better job than them.
I still strongly believe that this whole story will end with humans repeating history by firing the Halo rings to eliminate the Flood. More specifically, one particular human will make the choice to do so, knowing he won’t be coming back this time.
I like this idea too, but the human-forerunner war make it really weird. Why the forerunners would give to their ennemy the mantle of responsability.
As far as I know, the Librarian is the only one who decided to give it to the humanity, I’m sure the majority would prefer to restart their species in the galaxy
Anymore*
Always a strange retcon to make though.
But even in the 343i lore its possible that forerunners are actually just humans that underwent gene therapy and mutations prior to the fall of the precursors.
And the league of admiral’s ancient humanity from the forerunner flood war were simply a lower rate forgotten and left to evolve in a more naturalistic fashion. Bear left the room for that much at least.
I think it was the precursors that were giving the mantle to humans from forerunners and the forerunners didn’t like that and waged a one sided war and killed almost all precursors. The precursors did not fight back at all.
I think some precursors were able to successfully flee if I remember the primordial’s explanation correctly.
Also ancient humans attacked flood at a forerunner world and the forerunners thought they were attacking them so they destroyed them so much that they basically went back to the Stone Age and then progressed to current times.
I’m totally agreed with that, but as far as I know, the Librarian was the only one who know those thing about the precursor, so for the last forerunner like the Didact, giving the mantle to their ancient human is nonsense.
If i read the notes right and the cutscenes that were relevant, humans were actaully decendants of the forerunners, probably as an experiment species mutation or something due to the daidact calling us the librarians “pets” that she was trying to protect from the daidact.
Humans are forerunners. Guilty spark and the gravemind say this multiple times and the only thing that disagrees are the terminals in halo 3 that frank o conner wrote.
I’d say they are both human and a different species cause of the fact that in the lore humans are decendants of the forerunners but arent the same species
Seperate species, shared ancestor works well enough.
