Infinite feels more like halo than 4 and 5 so its a return to form while still being an evolution. IMO, infinite shouldve been halo 4. Just me though.
I agree somewhat. I did like Halo 5 better than Halo 4. I just want that old halo feel’n back!
Peace!

The only Halos that feel out of place to me are Reach and 4 (both fun in their own right). Guardians and Infinite feel like natural evolutions to that classic feel (the classic feel, btw, that now feels heavy and outdated).
The main difference between now and that “old feeling” is that my friends moved on to other games (other systems and genres entirely) and I did not.
Last Man Standing.
Tl;Dr, Halo is the same as it’s ever been, but it has significantly better and more plentiful competition than it had in '04-'09ish.
Imho, the only o that matters.
With Forge hopefully a big part of that feeling will come back. This game has so much potential its insane. It managed to blend so much of what made classic Halo great with some modern evolutions to make it feel fresh yet familiar. The art style is good, the gameplay is good, it managed to solve the sprint debate that went on for 10 years. They just dropped the ball on the content side of the game which leads to the game feeling more like a third of a game. Infinite is pretty much one third of a great Halo game.
Apologies for the long rambling posts, conscious thought.
Personally, I liked Halo Reach and I liked Halo 4, I like the implementation of Sprint, I liked some of the abilities even though some abilities were annoying like Armor Lock, but I did like the bubble and I liked the jetpack, the gravity lift, there was some cool stuff. I liked Halo 4’s campaign and Multiplayer, and I think the short series, Forward unto Dawn, was an excellent intro before the release of the Halo 4 game. I did not mind game loadouts, it allowed me the freedom to pick my play style.
Halo 5 started some big changes though, experimenting with movement and I could tell then that 343 had started down a path that I wasn’t as enthused about, gameplay movement for me seemed uneven and awkward. Halo 5 's campaign though has a lot of varied environments and has a lot of replayability, too bad there was no co-op, but imagine if Halo 5 had the Grapple Hook, it would have destroyed that campaign, there would be no reason to clamber, which is also a good movement addition.
I find myself thinking about the quick unfinished release of Halo Infinite, was it in part they needed to release the game before the Halo TV series, so at least Halo fans playing Master Chief would not also be thinking about the Master Chief having -Yoink!- with an enemy, committing treason and completely destroying what Master Chief is, plus removing his helmet and his emotional suppression chip like he’s Data from Star Trek.
Halo Infinite has next to no variation in environment, 343’s big WOW movement added to the game is the Grapple Hook and all it did was foster lazy map design. I think giving Sprint a cool down would benefit this game, slow it down just enough to allow players to breathe. It is glaringly obvious the game needs to also reimplement player collision and friendly fire, and the re-addition of social features, etc, and that’s not even addressing the terrible map design, repetitive campaign environment, and on and on and on …
We can witness the changing of the Halo franchise, 343 taking over the direction of the game we have been witness to its downfall. It’s much like climate change, it is real, of course, it is real, climate change happens, but with the addition of advanced humans and our realization we could manipulate our environment on such a large scale, there has been a steady downfall for life on this planet.
We now spend most of our time and resources trying to fix and roll back many of the things that we have done because we broke it, but still, there is much of the planet’s population that refuses to believe that we broke it
343 and just enough of their supporters don’t want to admit the game is broke.
I agree 100% Bud! When we get Forge there will be a “BIG CHANGE” in the way halo is played!
Example: The way CTF is played now I don’t like it. I will setup all my CTF maps in the traditional way of play’n the game. The way I will setup the flags You cap and steal the flag at the same place at each base. Not at 2 different places PERIOD!
Peace!

What does the good ol’ feeling of playing Halo back even mean? I mean, if I wanted to enjoy halo’s like in the older games… I’d play the Master Chief Collection…
If you played Custom Games in Halo Combat Evolved and Halo CE you would know what the feel’n means.
IMHO Halo Combat Evolved and Halo CE just needed a face lift. Everything else was just fine. There are 1000’s of awesome maps for those two games. I would like to see some those maps in Halo Infinite. ![]()
Peace!

I want gameplay that is not solely based around completing challenges for a Battle Pass or Events. Those are historically known as “side-activities” in most online games. And especially in previous Halo games, challenges were a secondary objective for players to help complete their primary objective which was progressing up through a Career system of some type with leveling or military ranks. Each unlock was a trophy to be worn with pride for your commitment and progress in the system. Now it has become a meaningless purchase to me. If the Weekly Ultimate Reward isn’t something worth my time or there isn’t an Event going on, then I don’t even bother playing Halo Infinite.
No it won’t. First off, Forge means nothing if custom games are still a dysfunctional mess. Secondly, Forge won’t fix the numerous issues this game has aside from lack of maps.
I agree with the Custom Games is dysfunctional . Now when forge comes out we will at least have time to screw around with forge and learn to use it till 343i fixes this mess. I can go off line and make maps in the meantime. I have already have my custom game modes ready to go. Example: In CTF I have made 50 changes to that game mode. I just need Forge to finish it!!
Then we can start making maps too bring back that old halo feel’n ( I Hope )
Peace!

343 haven’t fixed anything since day 1, what makes you think they’ll fix custom games?
HOPE!! Tha’s all we got.
Peace!

I don’t even want to get into how wrong this statement is. Objectively and factually wrong!
Then you are lost. Hope is exactly what 343 is relying on to keep pumping out minimal quality controlled updates. You need to put your foot down and DEMAND better.
It seems like most Halo players think of their preferred Halo game as their quintessential “Halo feel” when in reality each game has its own stink. Each game has its bads and good depending on the person. But, they all have the same core which is just your average arena shooter. The “good old halo feel” never went anywhere. Each game is the Halo feel with a different coat of paint. This one is just a poorly done live service coat.
Gameplay wise I honestly like it better now then how it’s been in other entries in the series. I do feel there is definitely room for improvement, but it’s far from bad. I definitely don’t get nearly as frustraited as I did in ones like Halo 2. Where I would shoot people for a good 10-15 seconds, only for them to turn around and destroy me in two seconds like nothing.
Mostly, I guess I just want more actually content more then anything added to it.
None of the above,
343 is not capable of pulling it off and they never will be knowing the fact that they have never been able to come close to it, and they have had since Halo 4. This is only wishful thinking and the only way that might happen but it would take years, is if they let Staten actually run the show, but the higher-ups will not have none of that.
So wanting and knowing what will actually take place says enough.
