I’ve seen the Halo Infinite Multiplayer Overview video on YouTube and there was one thing that got my attention asides from all the other things like Bots, ADS, etc. A newer version of Halo 4’s MP point system. The video showed 100 points for every kill, while also showing 50 points for every kill assist.
After seeing something like that I’m starting to wonder on how all other actions would reward players who do their parts, like you get extra points for stacked assistances, sprees, multikills? And are there also penalty points for teamkilling like -50 points for betrayals among other actions?
I was a fan of Halo 4’s MP system because it actually rewarded players who assisted their teammates and did their part. When I get more assists than kills I always feel neglected as just a sidekick who barely did anything in-terms of kill points that attributed to the overall score before then. When your assistance actually adds to the team score to win is more satisfying, rewarding and rather relieving than being a forgotten sidekick.
I think the point of assistances giving you +5 in Halo 4 was to show your contribution to the team’s performance; in other words, show that you’re not being idle/passive even if you’re not contributing to increasing team score/frags directly. It’s also why the leaderboard showed it. Thankfully Halo 5 carried on with this by showing your number of assists directly in the game, and counting them as +1/3 in the FDA (frags - deaths + (assist / 3) ) . I also loved that it gave style points, even if that it didn’t contribute to the team’s success necessarily.
Agreed that as someone who sucks terribly at PVP, I like the game acknowledging that I’m not in fact AFK but am out there trying to help the team in Slayer even if I’m not getting tons of kills. I usually do get a lot of assists because I’m just not good enough to finish off kills.
Of course in Infinite I question how much time I’ll actually be spending playing PVP at all now that bots are finally here!
I love the flexibility this could give to custom games.
I want to be able to assign different points to handicap players and even the playing field (we range from Bronze to Diamonds in our group).
Game types with different points for different types of kills would be awesome. eg. melees, certain weapons, medals, grenades, distance kills, etc.
And finally, they could change up the assist scoring - currently it seems to be 50 points for an assist… but I would love to see you get the points for the % you contributed to the kill.

Is it not already possible to assign a different weight in points to how you play the game (kills, betrayals, suicides, headshots, assassinations, back smacks, etc.)?
I wasn’t a fan of Halo 4 point system at all, especially when it went towards the score. I want my slayer games to be 50 kills to win.
Now, if the points are just something that goes towards you gaining so much experience or something to level up in the progression system, then I have no issues with it. Otherwise, I definitely do.

You can in Halo 5 for kills and suicides… but that’s about it.
I would love to be able to assign different scoring systems for different players from the pre-game lobby (or via a game script). For example my son is much better than the rest of us… it would be great to give him less points per kill (especially with the god--Yoink!- sniper rifle) and/or make him worth more points to be killed.

I like the concept of 100 points per kill. It opens up a world of custom game options.
Ranked games can still be to 5000 with 100 points per kill and 0 points per assist (ie. 50 kills).
