PODs, JIP matches

What do you guise think about personal ordinance drops and join in progress matches?
I like hearing what people think.

They’re both terrible and break Halo.

I hate joining into a game most of the way complete and on the losing side. It forces you to have a loss. Joining a game almost complete and then winning isn’t a win that you had to work for. It messes up the W/L ratio which would be terrible with a 1-50 ranking system. PODs should go too.

PODs mmmmm HELL NO

JIP needs to go as is or be properly modified to suit halo. More with allowing players to join at the very start during the loading screens as it already does which works well for accounting for pre game quitters.

I hate JIP. I can almost always count on being shoved into a game where A) the team is losing horribly B) it’s a gametype I’d never willingly vote for (looking at you, Clang of the Hill) C) a terrible map I’d never vote for. Sometimes, it’s all three rolled into one horrible little package of dying over and over again. Not fun.

Personal Ordnance Drops can work, but they need to be retooled. No overshields/damage boosts/speed boosts, no major power weapons like rocket launchers, sniper rifles, fuel rod cannons, and gravity hammers. POD is fine as a way to replenish grenades and ammo, and maybe switch to something like a needler, covie carbine, or a DMR. The most powerful thing that can show up in a POD should be a shotgun.

I hate Ordnance drops in Infinity slayer… As a matter of fact, I hate Infinity Slayer and all its offerings of random chaos. Legendary Slayer plays so much better.

If the Ordnance drops were modified to something like this http://youtu.be/1ml0X195d-I I wouldn’t mind it so much. As they are though, NO THANKS!

I don’t understand who thought it was a good idea to give a team that is already winning power weapons, and power ups drop at their feet. This just adds more fuel to the pubstomping, and makes people quit because the game quickly begins to run away. I have been on both the receiving/giving side of this.

JIP works for other games where there isn’t a power weapon rush that you miss out on. Plus no one likes joining a match that you are already losing, why do you think they quit to begin with.

Its not just the winning team that gets the ordinance. Its the winning team will get better ODs than the losers most of the time. Some games ill get a needler i as an OD, but the other team will have binaries, rockets, snipers OV etc.

POD can result in random outcomes to an otherwise balanced match - I get Incineration Cannon with 1 minute to go and you get plasma nades.

JIP is awful. In 4v4 people quit because they are losing so filling you into a situation you have had no control over is inherently unfair. In FFA you could JIP into a match you have absolutely no possibility of winning - someone could be 10 kills by the time you spawn out of 25 so the game is 40% over. Crazy.
