Im completely sure the game can mantain 60 fps with 60 fps animations, i dont care if you dont remove it from NPC’s but please at least remove or increase the distance of half rate animations from players and vehicles, i can notice that really easy and that looks TERRIBLE this is supposed to be a next generation game how in hell you dared to do that to this game?!
Because the new consoles (xbox one and ps4) are really underpowered.
Next gen doesn’t mean anything specifically. More of a marketing tool than an accurate description of console capabilities. I have Playstation 4 and Xbox One. 30fps is going to be a reality until the next console generation. Despite all the criticism Halo 5 is a good looking game compared to other shooters. 30fps animations can look weird at times but I doubt they can change it since its probably dynamic like resolution. Certain things are downgraded under certain conditions to maintain stability.
Dedicated 30fps animations would be fine too with a nice transition to 60fps instewd of just taking the 60fps animations and butchering them in half.

Come on, the beta hadn’t this issue, the game already has dynamic resolution and a lot of other sacrifices, you can’t say Halo 5 looks even good with those animations, it was useless spending millions of dollara making those great visuals if at end they screwed them all with the animations, there are a lot of games running at 60 fps and they dont need to cut animations to achieve that, this ia unacceptable and you, me and 343i know this
30fps does look really odd from not that far away

This is just not possible. The sad, hard truth is that Halo 5 is too technically demanding to run at 60 fps with the view distance it currently has. If you want a game which looks almost as good as Halo 5, and plays at 60FPS, play Halo 4, in the Master Chief Collection. If it were possible to run everything at 60fps, 343 would have done it. The fact they didn’t is already enough proof that it isn’t feasible. It is disappointing, but at least we can do what we can do currently. Without that kind of thing, warzone at 60FPS would be unthinkable. It may be a bit jarring, but it does in some indirect way, make the experience better.
The issue isn’t that the animations lose frames at a distance. The technique is used in other games. The idea is that it goes unnoticed because once someone is far away enough from the player, you can’t really tell that their animations are missing frames. The issue in Halo 5 is that the animations start to lose frames within close range of the player. But generally during gameplay you don’t notice it too much. And you sort of get used to it. Kind of lame though. They wouldn’t have done it if they had any other choice. They game is already running dynamic resolution. Getting a true 60fps would require more sacrifice.
Although I don’t think the animation issue is dynamic. As it appears to react the same way in a big Warzone match as in a 1v1 on a small map. Which doesn’t really make much sense. And embarrassingly enough, because Campaign cutscenes are in-engine. It appears there as well. Only once or twice in a couple quick moments. But still pretty embarrassing on 343’s part.
AND they got rid of split screen. Disappointing how the game’s not true 60fps.
i know understand why there are so many people vocally hating people for this… because they dont understand how game development works. 343 did a great job with halo 5 just be happy with it instead of complaining about something that if fixed would make the game choppy

The reason for that though, is this game can only run at 60 fps, the physics is tied to the framerate, so lowering the framerate would cause big problems (the game would run at half speed). That isn’t really fixable, when the game is designed in the way it is. Such is why so much effort is placed into maintaining 60 FPS though, the dynamic resolution, and 30FPS distance models are all a part of that - without them, the game would feel very weird to play. (slowmo grenades, and stuff)

You think they cut animations just to do it? The beta was 720p and not even close to the final product.
Other shooters don’t have to account for what Halo 5 does. For example the H5 engine has to account for dozens of Ai with up to 24 people on screen, and a number of vehicles, AND possibly infinite amount of Forge variations. Its easy to sit back and say “it should look better”. But what other console FPS runs at 60fps AND does what Halo 5 does? Battlefield 's engine doesn’t have AI vs players on a large scale or a map editor to worry about. Call of Duty has very basic visuals and much smaller maps, Battlefont is similar to battlefield…same engine. Any other 60fps game on console are fighters or remastered ps3/360 games.
These consoles are lmited so stability is the most important factor. All things considered Halo 5 is technically impressive.
