I want the flood as playable leader
I don’t, AMA as to why.
flood playable would be really nice add some variety. That and the fact we have never really been able to play as flood in any halo game.
A good amount of people do. It’s likely not happening however. We can always hope for it in Halo Wars 3 though!

There’s tons of Flood mods for Halo Wars 1, including mine if you want the Flood Wars experience
It won’t happen, they already stated in a live stream that it’s not going to happen.
Honestly they need to focus on what they already have. No point in new content if none of the stuff they have can be assured. Balancing is out of wack, path finding is poor, etc.

I thought yours isn’t out yet Juno
Mine and Blackandfan’s are out, if people are interested in playing as the Flood, they could try them out.
well, eventually the balance will be pretty amazing, it is true that with every new leader, there needs to be some tweaking but it’s not like they don’t fix it so its all good. A flood leader would be interesting, and I say might as well throw in Deacon Pipap in there with a Deacon upgrade to grunt squads to make them super grunts!

Darn, you got me. My mod is coming out soooooon ™
I don’t think 343i will release a playable Flood faction. They have had plenty of chances with Hw2 but instead they focused on rehashing similar leaders.

But should would 3 be like ? Naval warfare ?
First, make the forerunner playable.

Downvote!
I’ve never been a huge fan of the Prometheans, I just don’t find them fun or visually impressive. I’d much prefer Flood first if it was ever going to happen.
That’s only my opinion though.
This is going to sound REALLY stupid but I have a legitimate question, what would a flood vehicle/ air unit look like? Would it be those bird things like in the halo wars 1 campaign? Also what would the bases look like. I know this is pretty blunt and not related to the post but I was just curios as to what every one else thought.
It would be exceedingly difficult if not outright impossible to make the Flood a balanced playable race within the confines of RTS rules.
They don’t use resources like others, they need biomass, bodies in particular, that means infection forms need to turn hostile infantry. This would require the enemy to have quite a few infantry units out there and in small enough numbers for the infected to survive retaliation.
The Banished would be weak against Flood infection rushes since Grunt squads are not worth mentioning in any battle, and they lack any real area of effect anti-infantry units until they get Wraiths, Blisterbacks, and Marauders.
The UNSC is better off right from the start with Hellbringers and Marines.
Mechanized armies would be immune to this and have an easy advantage versus Flood. Yet another victim to Forge and his Hog…
Denying the Flood biomass could easily destroy them before the match even gets going…so unless there was a different way to make them work…

This man speaks the truth. You just cannot have real Flood with their true mechanics playable.

I’d say its problem isn’t bad mechanics just a lack of imagination. For example, the case you gave for the flood’s supply mechanic isn’t sufficient in demonstrating it as a bad idea for a faction. A flood can have a supply pad it would just look different compared to other factions as they already do. What the supply pad would look like is a tentacle coming straight from hive mass erupts from the ground. I then imagine it would expand into a structurally sound building look alike. The supplies (or biomass) wouldn’t be coming from a little air craft or from a drills, it would be coming straight through the tentacle.
