You’re literally trying to tell me that the guy who said he is geo filtering is lying. Why are so many people complaining about people geo filtering then? Because they get laggy games that are unplayable.
You don’t understand how it works because Geo filtering only affects your individual connect when it comes to restrictions. It’s not preventing other people from connecting to you.
"Lag in online games is commonly caused by the distance from you to the host or server of your game. Geo-Filter allows you to specify which areas of the world you wish to connect to, meaning you can stop connections to laggy hosts before they happen.
By setting a distance limit from your home you will only connect to players or servers closer to you and the effect on your game should be improved response time and fairer gameplay."
“The geo-filter feature helps reduce lag while gaming by allowing you to set a maximum distance between you and the servers or players that you connect to.”

Geo-filtering allows you to block all outside connections. And to connect only to servers closest to you.
But let’s say for the sake of argument that you are correct and geo-filtering does not block outside connections. How is it “cheating” or wrong for a person to connect to their local server? The server they should connect to in the first place. I don’t see an issue with this. Why? Because someone using a geo-filter has absolutely nothing to do with you. It does not force you onto their servers. The game does. The real issue here isn’t geo-filtering. It’s the way the game does matchmaking. It’s the game itself that’s putting players into lobbies with 150+ ping. Not people using geo-filtering.
it’s not an issue of them using it so they have a good connection, it’s a problem that I have to deal with their sh!tty servers. Simply put back the region select and problem solved.
You didn’t read any of the sources I posted. If geo-filter is on then you are blocked from that server. Simple. How does it effect you? Answer: It doesn’t. You are not on their servers. The only geo-filter server you’d end up on is if someone in your local area was geo-filtering. In which you’d then be connected to your local server anyway so it’s not an issue. Nothing about geo-filtering is forcing you onto crappy servers.
you’re totally right bro, they didn’t ban royal for doing it. It had 0 effect on their games remember? that’s why they completely ignored it and non of the players complained about shiit server lag right? you’re clueless, go to bed.
They aren’t cheaters. That’s like saying people who pick specific servers in MCC are cheaters. The only difference is MCC has it built-in, along with tons of other multiplayer games.
Technically not, since they are hackers. But most people just sum them together under the term ‘cheater’.
That last part is the key difference: the games allows you to do it in MCC. In Infinite you are not (yet?) allowed to do that. You must hack into the game to chance that. That makes it cheating (hacking) and officialy you could be perma banned for it (if 343 took it serious, wich i don’t think they are doing at the moment).
I’ve provided proof of what geo-filtering is. But instead of educating yourself you want to remain ignorant and argue against a manufacture who builds routers with geo-filtering capabilities. Yet you call me clueless?
pretty crazy that multiple people have told me they are geo filtering on 150+ ping servers yet you here on the forums telling me they must be lying. shh go to bed.
Geo filtering only affects people in your fireteam, if they are outside your region. All it does is block you from joining servers outside your region. It does not force other players to join a region across the globe, unless they joined your fireteam. Your game will search for the nearest server with players already in queue. If the nearest Azure server is literally across the globe, then nobody in your whole continent is playing Infinite, and that’s unlikely. What’s likely happening is that Microsoft has a severe lack of Azure servers, and people in your country just aren’t playing ranked because of how bad the netcode is
Let’s say J03Mama blocked every server except Australia, and you live in Canada. By default, Infinite will search all Canada servers, then all USA servers, then all Mexico servers, etc, but it’s not gonna drag you all the way to Australia just because J03Mama is only searching for players in Australia.
Here’s a list of Azure servers so you can see how bad ping is in neighboring servers to yours. I get 110 only a few states away in the USA.

Try reading my posts…I asked that question and offered to help resolve his issues. There are also plenty of typing applications to help anyone that struggles with the written word as part of communication whether that be due to learning difficulties or speaking a different lanaguage…it’s just pure lazy behaviour if that person does not utilise those applications knowing they may be not be communicating coherently. It also doesn’t help if said person if talking complete and utter nonsense.
You clearly don’t understand why he was banned and how the use of geo filter was a rule break in this scenario. I’ve already explained in this thread why this was the case and why it was wrong to do so in a tournament game…but out in the world of general public matchmaking, geo filters affects absolutely no one other than helping that person connect only to local servers.
Is it 150ms ping for you or for them? If it’s for you then that means that you are at 150ms to that server because the game put you on it, but the people using geo filter are most likely connected to their local server at 50ms or less. With Halo Infinite there is literally no benefit to use geo filter to force connection to a server further away and with higher ping.
I understand the situation completely, and yes I’m the one with 150+ ping. and like I said, multiple occasions they have told me they were doing it because they are the ones always getting US servers and bad ping.
Ok so just to clarify the situation you are experiencing…
Where are you based?
Are the ppl who you ask in game about geo filter on your team or playing against them?
Do you know these ppl?
Where are these ppl based?
What ping are these ppl getting?
Have you asked these ppl why they use geo filter?
You once again completely miss the point. Maybe the people in your games that are geo-filtering live in your area and you are within the range they have set. You can still connect to someone who’s geo-filtering near you and still have 150 ping. The ping is your connection to the server. It’s not affected by geo-filtering what so ever. Your ping can be due to multiple factors from age of home wiring, wifi, amount of people in your neighborhood on the internet to literally a hundred other things.
yes man because everyone in the lobby besides the one guy saying hes filtering has 150+ ping. you are literally dense and I’m done responding because it’s like talking to a wall. cya
