I really would like for 343i to consider making a “make your own control scheme” option in Halo 5.
Since there have been a couple of games in the series (Each one with new innovations) some control schemes have been lost in the transitions. For Example: I started my Halo journey with Halo 3, my game play was based one the default Halo 3 control scheme and it was perfect for me.Then came reach, implementing the ability to sprint (which in my case was used in the X button). Then there was Halo 4, at this point they developed a “Better” way to control your game play, and that let to the Halo 3 default control scheme being renamed “Recon”. This is where my confusion began, since I started exploring other games in the FPS genre.
In all of them I tried to recreate the classic Halo 3 control, With B as the melee button, A as the Jump button and Y to change my weapons. But this let to a mix, Since most other FPS are known for there classic LT to aim down sights, X to reload and pick up weapons, and the recurring holding down the Left Thumb Stick to sprint.
When the Halo 5 Beta came out I was surprised to see that the “Recon” control scheme was adapted to fit the new game mechanics. Which has let to me being very confused in which button I want to press for a bunch of different situations. And this is why I suggest for the final game to implement a new feature that lets the player alter a couple of buttons and functions in hes controller. I’m not saying the should be able to put the “fire weapon” function in the A button or something like that, but at least give more options and choices that will solve a lot of frustrations and make the players feel satisfied.
