I’d imagine most people get this, but just in case…
To all those playing Halo 5: please accept that Halo 5 is Halo 5. There are Spartan Charges. There are Ground Pounds. There is Sprint. There is Thruster Pack and Slide. The AR is strong and the Magnum is a loadout utility weapon. Accept this. But more importantly–accept these things and enjoy them. Use them. It’s fun. Don’t try to play Halo 5 like you played Halo 2 or 3 or Reach. Play it like Halo 5. Use thruster and shotgun to pick up some sweet kills. Pick up the Boltshot to grab a few homing 4 shot kills. And whenever you get a chance take the SMG or Storm Rifle to put down those pesky Spartan Charges.

I opened this thinking it would be a stupid post, but people really need to read this.
All of it is true.
Well said! I’m pretty good with the Magnum though, not sure what you mean by utility
One of the most amazing aspects of Halo 5 is the supremely refined gameplay. You may not feel that when you first play, but for me having put in quite a bit of time into the game I just feel like the gameplay is near perfect, all the new moves and the weapons balance is just spot-on. And, as your examples illustrate, the gameplay is clever and imo you will enjoy it more if you embrace it rather than keep comparing it to the past. But for me, even when I compared it to last Halo games I just feel like the H5 gameplay is simply more refined, gives you more options, and is better overall…it fits with my style of play more. To each his own though, and if you don’t like the game that is fine I hope you do find that one game that will give you great moments during this holiday period.

Gameplay wise, Halo 5 is excellent.
It’s all the stuff around that core gameplay, the services and features that make a complete user experience in 2015, that are trash.
The matchmaking and ranking system are trash.
The spawn AI is trash.
The playlist management is trash.
The maps are mediocre for the most part.
It takes a great core of gameplay, and buries under metric tons of frustration.
Here’s a simple request. As a Platinum1 player, I’d like to play other Platinum players. Not Diamonds. Certainly not Onyxs. Platinums. I’d like matches that aren’t essentially over by the time the other team reaches 25 kills.
When Halo 5 can successfully and consistently fill this request, you’ll see less quitters and a lot less complaining.

I won’t speak for anyone else, but for me Halo has always been a game where I win some and I lose some while many/most matches are pretty close. Halo 5 has been no different overall for me personally. Although some of those very early placement matches can be pretty rough as the system tries to figure out where I fit in.
I agree so much with this. People need to realize that, while there are a TON of things that should be changed in this game, some of it is inevitably here to stay.
Sprint, spartan charge, ground pound, the req system as it exists, etc. You can make threads asking for it to be excluded from the next game, but stop wasting everyone’s time asking for it to be pulled from this game. It’s too integral to the established setup!

Exactly. I can’t understand why everyone wants halo 5 to be halo 2. Its like watching a brat that wants a red lollipop but gets a blue one and he is crying his head off about it. Can we all just accept that this is what Halo is today? Besides I love Halo 5, I don’t know why everyone has to be such a -Yoink- about it.

Agreed on all points, and to add to that, make the req system a proper progression system too. Sick of seeing people rank 5-15 with far better equipment than me because they got lucky. I am Sr 42 atm, and all I have is trash that I never use.
I’ve been with old school Halo since day 1 (involved in the community even a little bit before Halo 1 was released), but I ultimately love playing Halo 5, since I understand it is its own game! Don’t get me wrong, there are indeed things that need to be fixed and changed for Halo 6, but that doesn’t stop me from just having fun!

It is a halo game with some mechanics tweaked and new ones added.

I don’t know how you managed to reach 42 without having some good weapons for warzone?. I am 60 and the only things i have left are ultras and Mythic.
Very well written OP, Halo 5 may not be perfect but I personally enjoy it, and it’s certainly a step in the right direction from Halo 4. In regards to MP anyways.
Although I definitely want people to like each halo game for what they are but there’s always the question of “halo 5 is halo 5 but what if I don’t like halo 5?”

Hey man everyone can have their own opinion can’t they? not everyone will like all the systems i like the game but the REQ system bugs me i don’t like the way the armor designs are going but i do love the multiplayer. I would rather we could purchase our armor more like reach was. But all in all this is a fun game. I played the first three before i even became an online player i only got xbl for reach never interested me at first always did split screen etc.

You just don’t play it. That’s all you can do and that’s how it should be. I loved Reach’s MP and I sunk hours and hours into that game. I was pumped for Halo 4 but ultimately I didn’t like it so I didn’t play it. Life went on. I survived.
