Agreed. I think they needed to either A: Make a better story that integrates more of the characters from previous games, and has more onscreen action, or B: make it clear that 4/5 are non-canon, and start back at the end of Halo 3 and reintegrate some of the better characters (like Lasky) into a new canon.
You do understand that B is never going to happen, right? Call it pessimism or whatnot, but 4 and 5 are canon, and will always be canon. Infinite has ended what they started, and that’s about as good as y’all will get.
Oh I’m fully aware that they aren’t ever going to be able to fix their mistakes.
A certainly would have been reasonable, and I actually think they did create a campaign like that, then realized they could cut 2/3s of it (the parts with the old characters, etc.) and sell it later instead.
The point is though you should NOT have to depend on content outside of the games to know exactly whats going on in the games story and with its characters!!! Leaving fans of the games having to fill in huge story gaps and sometimes even important parts of the story in there games with other content is a disgrace!!! Either ways its either laziness or greed on 343’s part!!!
People: Halo 4 and 5 was horrible and never should have happened!
343: Makes a Halo game that does it’s best to erase Halo 4 and 5.
People: Why did they abandon the horrible story direction of Halo 4 and 5? 343 finish what you started even though I hated it!
For me its not even the fact they ditched some of halo 4 and 5 its the fact that infinites story was mediocre at best and still left loads out leaving us with plotholes as they always do! And again im sick of them expecting people to fill in gaps with other content outside the games with there poxy books!
I don’t think plotholes mean what you think they mean.
A plothole isn’t an unexplained thing in the story, a plothole is something that makes absolutely no sense no matter how you try to explain it. A contradiction that makes no sense in the story.
The characters from Halo 4 and 5 not being around in Infinite makes sense, MC was out of commission for 6 months, they could be dead, on a different part of the ring, or have left the system entirely in that time. So it’s not a plothole. It’s just an unexplained part of the story.
-Yoink!- me! unexplained part of story then! Whatever you want to call it buddy! Thats what i mean then!
Are they the same people though?
Or different groups of people put together?
I hate Halo 4 and 5 personally. Classic boomer Bungie fan.
I’ve met others that have come to love Halo 4 and 5. I guess they can never please everybody again.
Well, why is it necessary to explain right now? What would it add to the story of the game?
I didn’t spend all of Halo Reach-5 wondering “Hmm, what happened to Romeo? How come Romeo doesn’t appear in every game, it’s a big unexplained mystery what Romeo has been up to this whole time” because he wasn’t important to the story of any of those games.
Locke, Lasky, Palmer etc aren’t important to the story of Infinite.
I fall in the crowd of “loved halo 4, hated halo 5 on a narrative level.”
5’s problem for me feeling like a separate story rather than a natural continuation of what 4 set up with the didact & spartan ops narrative, imagine my surprise finding out later all that stuff was wrapped up in side material, a big mistake.
