So we all know that in Halo 4 Dr. Halsey appears and Chief and Cortana say that she is alive and well on Earth. But in Reach, her place gets destroyed. And in the book Halo Evolutions: Essential Tales to the Halo universe Volume II on page 207 it reads “Cortana was the first smart AI he had ever worked with directly. Sadly, whoever died to make this AI possible had to have been a genius among geniuses”. Now this short story tells the tale of MC in New Mombasa before the Covies destory it and ODST took place.
So yea Halsey is dead. But in Halo 4 in the beginning of the campaign the little video when you first start that campaign there is Halsey being interrogated. And Cortana says that if they get back to Halsey on Earth then she can get fixed. Anyone else see what’s wrong here?
You do strictly remember what Cortana said at the beginning of Requiem right? Cortana was created from the surviving Flash Clone of Dr. Halsey. The original Halsey is alive and well. The flash clone’s brain was used to create Cortana.

If you had read all the books, you would know that Halsey was alive and kicking on a shield world, when she (and a handful of her spartans) were rescued by the UNSC. She ended up on the Infinity.
The excerpt you mention, is due to the fact that ONI doesn’t want anyone to know she’s alive. No plot holes.

If I understand you correctly you’re saying that Cortana will be coming back in Halo 5/6. But we all saw that Cortana died or at least went to some freaky AI thing that I forget what it is actually called and what not.I really don’t think that Cortana will be coming back any time ever. Unless Halsey has some sort of copy of her or seomthing.

the plot mess up is in the books she is on the infinity but in the game she some how isn’t. 343 created so many plot holes in this story its not even funny.

You do know she was on the Infinity in 2553 while Halo 4 is set in 2557? Plenty of other plot holes and errors, but that isn’t one of them.

Well as far as the thing on Reach goes, that I can answer. Yes the lab she was working at gets destroyed, but right before that happens when they are exiting to the pelicans, noble 1 tells Jun to go with the docter to where ever she is supposed to evac from, and make sure nothing falls into enemy hands.
I sort of thought she was dead to at that point because thats like military code talk for wink-wink-nudge-nudge pop her in the head if you see any covie’s so they can’t interrogate her. And before anyone starts grumbling at the horror of that do some reading about WW II codetalkers.
It wasn’t until I realized it was her giving the epilouge speech after the lone wolf mission on reach that I realized Jun must have gotten her off the planet.

Chief rescued her and Blue Team on Reach after he destroyed Installation 04. It was in Halo: First Strike.

The last entry in the journal is right before Noble Team (Carter, Six, Jun, and Emile) arrive at the destroyed Castle Base…

What Chief means by this is that “If we can just get back to Earth” --remember Reach was recently glassed, there’s nowhere to go but Earth-- “and find Halsey” --it doesn’t matter to him where she is. He knows that they have to get back to Earth first though before they have a chance of finding her or even knowing if she’s alive.

Actually I honestly think that cortana is alive in the didacts suit when she attacked him. i dont think shes dead. but if anything she probably wont be the same as we know her now.
Plot holes? I’ll tell you plot holes. The Master Chief’s armor. How did that change between Halo 2 and 3? Did he have time to get changed? I don’t think so. Or how about between Halo 3 and 4? Where is his belt from halo 3? In 4 he doesn’t have it, and has spartan IV type armor. Yep! Plotholes!
