Pleeeeeeeeeeeease fix the AIMING/Heavy AIM!!!!

Honestly, this is ridiculous. How can we have an inconsistently bad aiming experience, 4 years after launch… like c’mon with this BS. The BTB and Warzone servers feel great, but when you get into the playlists that REALLY MATTER (Competitively matter), then the experience turns to ish. Also, can you Guys give us an option to turn OFF “aim acceleration”? this adds to the inconsistent feeling… along with the input lag (delay when moving the stick… and before anyone says it’s my monitor: BenQ RL2455T).

Summary:
1.) Fix Heavy Aim
2.) Fix controller input lag
3.) Add aim acceleration “0” option, to the Controller settings

For a competitive game, the “artificial” difficulty is the WORST. this is the first First Person Shooter, that sucks at shooting. Why even play the game??? Imagine if Forza sucks at the actually driving mechanic level, what’s the point of being competitive??

I dont know what youre talking about. there are several settings ingame to make your aiming/shooting experience smoother and more enjoyable.

What exactly do you mean? The aiming seems fine for me.

There is no setting that stops 2 or 3… what are you talking about?

I played FFA for a couple hours last night and never experienced heavy aim. The only time I get it, which doesn’t even seem to be all the time, is with a charged incineration Cannon in super fiesta.

I highly doubt they’re going to readdress the heavy aim issue. They already tried to fix it and came up with a fix for one issue, but said there are external factors that can continue to cause it, so basically it’s never going to completely go away. The hot fix where they talk about it is linked below.

Link.

OP, I fought with the same issue also for quite a while. I too have a very well performing gaming monitor and an elite controller that I use wired.

Try to use a sensitivity no higher than 6. I used to play on 10 and the heavy aim was terrible but when I switched to 5 the effects seemed to vanish nearly completely. I sometimes bump it up to 6 or 7 but at 7 the heavy aim starts to become noticeable. You probably already use 1 acceleration like me so nothing else to do there.

i thought they fixed heavy aiming

I RARELY play Halo 5 but played last night and the aiming seems just fine

You do know that accel 1 makes your aiming respond (reach top speed) slower, right?

I have severe heavy-aim, most of my games (I’m EU btw), but when playing after 1:30 AM it’s almost always gone…? The other day I played like 9 games in a row without heavy-aim, but can’t be playing at 2 AM every day…

The game plays completely different without it.

Can you elaborate on what exactly “heavy aim” is. Maybe provide an example or a clip. I have heard many people mention this. Cheers

wtf is heavy aiming? is that using scope/smart link?

Yes I know how the acceleration works. But in terms of responsiveness it changes only how much your reticle moves, not how quickly your reticle reacts to input.

For me at least heavy aim is apparent in the initial motion when you start to move a resting reticle or change the direction of a moving one. The name heavy aim really does suit the effect, the reticle moves as if it had a mass and inertia. It doesn’t start to move the instant you make an input but rather it takes a moment.

But yeah, the game feels completely different when heavy aim is on/off. I always throw my reticle around at the start of each game and I can instantly tell if heavy aim is on or not. I haven’t noticed any kind of correlation with the time I’m playing at. For me heavy aim is too random to notice such those kind of patterns, but I wouldn’t be suprised if it had something to do with server stress.

They won’t. The wonky aiming is the #1 reason I never play H5.

I have played Halo for almost 15 years…but if heavy-aim is in the next Halo, I’m gone.

Since their fix the only time I experience heavy aim is with a charged incineration cannon and another Spartan crosses my sights.

That’s probably just aim assist kicking in. It’s suprisingly sticky if you are trying to aim elsewhere but someone crosses your reticle in red reticle range.

But I too don’t experience heavy aim that often anymore. After the update and after I lowered my sensitivity it’s become quite rare actually, but that much more annoying when that rare occasion comes up.

Certainly hope Halo Infinite doesn’t suffer from it. I’m going to face palm my head out of this galaxy if that happens…

Why so salty

So what is heavy aiming exactly?

You’re dvr link is broken btw.

They already did a couple patches for heavy aim and then also mentioned that heavy aim could come from other sources like your connection etc. which is the PR answer of telling us that they’re done trying to fix it.

You can read about it here and there’s a big thread about it here. The first link also says what they did to fix it although people still experience it.
