Please tell us 343 why CSR isnt visible

I mean it’s not that hard to settle differences with people who want it and people who don’t want it. You got rid of deranking by not taking exp away when you quit, so there will be hardly any derankers. And most people barely check stats on waypoint, since you can see almost everything on your own service record, so if “CSR BEING ONLY VISIBLE ONLY ON WAYPOINT,” is a strategic way to get people on waypoint, then that’s just sad. I mean, you don’t see bungie back then telling people to go on the website to make gametypes. (not like you guys ever did).

And to those who do not want CSR visible in-game due to, bragging, insults, and etc. then don’t put your highest skill on the service record, but instead have a rank playlist (like halo 3) and just put the skill you earned “IN THAT GAMEMODE” right next to your name. So if casual players play a normal public game with “mlg tryhards” (no offence)they won’t be able to see the casual player’s highest skill. Therefore no bashing will occur, unless they really sucked in-game.

You know how many people would come back to play halo 4? A lot. You guys brought things in that people wanted from halo 3 like, in-game overall stats and brought back things people wanted from halo 3 to reach, with the ability to jump like masterchief. But you guys are missing something longtime halo players wanted back since halo 3. The Ranking System. With your “Forge test playlist” and Small maps on the Majestic map pack, filesharing, then you’re headed the right direction, all you need is visible csr and a playlist without any loadouts what so ever (like a classic playlist we never got), then you just made halo 4 the perfect halo game to people who dislike halo 4.

Speak The Truth Brotha!!

i agree

they wont answer … I think the answer is because they dont want noobs to leave the game

They have already answered, several times. Some people are just to lazy to go read the different forum sections where they responded.

And FYI peeps, it doesnt matter how much you complain CSR will only be on waypoint. Its been stated since day one it would be this way, no amount of complaining is going to change that, and certainly not at this stage of its development.

I don’t see why people are still arguing about this.
You care about CSR? Check waypoint. If you don’t care about CSR, don’t. Simple.

It is, by its very existence, a nice compromise. If you don’t care or want it, you don’t have to see or know about it. If you do care, you and all your friends can check every moment of every day.

Waypoint is on PC, Phones and Xbox. You have more than enough ways to see your CSR.

But why not in game? It’d be much easier/less work to look it up in game, not to mention I know MANY people who don’t have smart phones or only desktop computers. Or iPhones that are 3G/3GS that aren’t able to get the smart glass app.

Also, it’s nice to see what you’re going up against IN LOBBY. It was nice to be worried and be like “ohh snap, there are 3 level 48s on that team” was some of the most satisfactory moments in Halo; You beating the obviously much better team and gaining confidence in yourself and your team as a Halo player and then losing and getting embarrassed the next game by a team of low 40s and one 49. (The last part isn’t really satisfactory though. haha Nor did that happen much unless they were second accounters… Which I would be willing to go against, if it meant having a visible in-game ranking system again.)

There’s really no LOGICAL argument AGAINST a visible ranking system. There can be indifferent points made like you provided, but there are more positive arguments that can be made against those.

What I don’t understand is why 343i just doesn’t separate the playlists into “Ranked” and “Social” playlists.

Their reasoning behind making the CSR not visible in game is that they don’t want (casual) players to feel “intimidated” (whatever that means…). Well, why not do what Halo has always done with ranked systems…separate them. If players are really intimidated by numbers next to their name, they can go play in the social playlists of Halo and not worry about playing so hard. Also, if players want to get competitive and look at their ranks level up IN GAME then they can go into the competitive playlists.

Seems like a pretty obvious solution to me. I don’t understand where this fear of ranks and players came from. Hell, even Black Ops 2 has this system in place (Public Matches vs League Play). All these arguments against making CSR visible in game is just silly and pointless.

dude all i can say is that the community has grown rotten and disagree for no reason. look games have come a long way from pong man. their is not reason to complain so hard all this negative stuff might be just but it makes the community look like 3 year olds who didn’t get to stay up late on new years. all hate breeds is more hate learn to accepted what they mad it’s all you get for three years. pluse why change the one we got make sure you say to not do it again . but some things can’t be changed it’s in the code and they would have to replace all of the game disk’s like that will happen. every time halo come out the community gets more like a wild mob and less like a fun place to be part of.

What a joke haha they can’t do anything right keep up the good work 343i. players playing halo 4 343

Waypoint is downloadable on xbox live so saying that you do not have a laptop or smartphone doesn’t mean you cannot see your rank. If they were to implement a leaderboard on waypoint, then i would be more happy then i am now.

They are making a competitive playlist for the competitive community and there adding ranks. The only thing that they are not doing that everyone wants, is making it in game. Everyone should be happy that they listened.

You want an answer as to why CSR isn’t a VIGR? Well here is your answer.

> Personally I think join in progress would occasionally be helpful when teammates have to bail. Or are jerks, but ultimately this combined with CSR means that people will, on balance, prefer the predictability that no JIP will bring. The CSR experience, which will work on basically any phone, will work basically exactly the same as Halo 3, but you simply glance at your phone or other smartglass device to see your current skill rank. This may be marginally less simple than seeing it in game, but the fact that it will make CSR less appealing to scumbags and de-rankers is well worth the ‘inconvenience’ of looking at your phone.

> This is the beginning of some other competitive efforts we will be spending time on this year.

It’s not a viable, or sensible reason for not having a VIGR, and it’s poorly warranted, but none the less it is an answer.

So people will start using waypoint more often, I am all for it not being visible by the way.

Having it on waypoint defeats the whole purpose and provides no incentive to play better the positives of having it visible in game far outweigh the negatives. It likely won’t drive people to waypoint, but it most definitely will cause players to abandon H4. Which apparently you and 343i are OK with.

If they want more traffic on waypoint they should fix file share, custom games and screen shots and provide compelling community tools like bungie did.

343i is really only trying to gain traffic for waypoint. HELL I might even believe microsoft is paying 343i to do this in order to get people on “smart glass” They did the same thing with Fable. Pete M even left lion head because of what Microsoft was doing to the company.

There is way more to visible CSR then what we are being told and the “it promotes derankers and cheaters” is just beyond bulls h it… something is going on inside of 343i that is shady business.

How can you ignore the outcry of the community like this?

“We” couldn’t handle an incredibly socially-oriented tourney (Infinity Challenge)- without boosting the crap out of it (MLG pro included). That’s all the evidence and logic you need behind the decision not to have it visible.

It’s a compromise. Something to attempt to appease legit players, while keeping the toxic stuff out of matchmaking as much as possible.

Until the community stops crapping the bed here, odds are we won’t see visible ranks. 343/Bungie has tried different things (1-50, Arena) and we keep breaking our toys, so I don’t know why we are surprised when they are taken away. Why expect a significant effort with a mimimum return from 343 when any visible system would be quickly exploited?

We don’t cheat- we probably have ranks. Simple as that. So don’t cheat, because I like ranks.

so im guessing that there still is no in-game true skill ranks? let me know b/c I don’t like halo 4 at all and the only thing that will make me think about playin this garbage is a rank system … at leave ill have something to work for…

I’m kind of surprised. I figured more people would be geeked it’s on mobile. Now it’s that much easier to show that kinda-sorta cute girl or boy in home ec class that you are a 50 in 5 playlists. I mean, that’s what really matters to most of us anyways.

The easiest answer is because they said so… It’s their game… Complain… It won’t change… Now what?

As long as I’m playing good people, I dont care.
