I would say I am average halo player. Just lost to a team 50-4. How does this rank match system work again. Haha. This is just ridiculous. I would insert a picture but can’t figure out how.
That diamond must’ve had the time of his life, there was also 2 golds and 1 silver/plat (cuz I can’t tell very well) on his team. You was gold, the rest were unranked. I didn’t even actually look into their SR ranks but it’s possible you got matched with Christmas noobs. They also could’ve been in a team while you wasn’t which can go a long way in this game. Overall I don’t see an issue besides that diamond being in there.
No system is perfect, so of course you can expect the occasional outlier game like the one you reference. I would say your K/D and win/loss ratios suggest you generally get fair matches.
That 50-4 game you lost, well, that was definitely a hell of an outlier. You got matched with 3 newer players and against a fireteam of 4 with a Diamond in it. That Diamond player could have been with that team which included a Silver so that he would get easier matches. Even so, the average rank of the enemy team was above that of the team you were on; couple that with the fact that you were solo queuing, and that seems like a match that shouldn’t have happened for multiple reasons. But again, no matchmaking system is perfect. So long as those kinds of games are few and far between, then matchmaking is doing its job relatively well.

the 3 people on your time had ~25 hours - combined - total - of gameplay. You have 12 days. The enemy team had 19 days between the 4 of them…unlucky dude
Just a other reason why placement matches are a huge failure! I absolutely can’t stand them!! Whoever at 343I decided that this was a good system obviously didn’t use it enough. The amount of times I’ve had games where it’s so one side is ridiculously and a huge waste of time. I truly hope with halo 6 they just have everyone start at the bottom and work there way up. By far the best system IMO.

Its designer left a year before the game was released.
As you can tell I have some hours logged in the game. This was just insane. Never been ripped so hard with a full team, sometimes when people quit but that’s expected. I have been matched before very unevenly I just wonder what determines you being matched.
