Please stop complaining about your (free updates)

Seriously guys! They promised to deliver free updates each month until the game was complete! Stop being so greedy and expecting mountainous amounts of stuff. Be grateful you are getting these updates, a month is not a very long time to produce the amount of things they do. What they do isn’t exactly easy either, do you think they enjoy creating these updates for you then watching you complain and whinge that it’s not at all what you expected? You hype things to exponential lengths and expect them to deliver what would take countless months of work in a single month. Stop being so ungrateful and just enjoy what you have. Or better yet, learn how to do what they do apply for a job and work your bum off for all that time then be at the other end of the spectrum when a butt hurt fan says your work was crap. Have some respect. This is Halo Community, not prosecute the people who give you so much.com

Tell me what you think? Is this fair? Should the updates really get slammed with such negativity? I want to know your thoughts

“No, I paid 60$ for this so I want my game to be complete. Oh wow new [non Halo game name] DLC for only 30$? Yes please!”

Yes people, I’m sure that’s how it is. You turn a blind eye to any other game / franchise but when it comes to Halo, here you are complaining for FREE updates.

I will make a valid point publicly to give people a moment to reflect on how selfish they are being. I didn’t complain mate, I simply stated facts

Hypocrisy at its finest. Facts are things that can be shown to be true. You posted your whining opinion about the fact that other people state theirs.

I still think the amount of recycled content in the free updates is a valid criticism and points to how these updates are free in the first place. So many pre-existing armor pieces get some minima change to them, emblems from past games are brought in (remember Shadow and Lights 1-9 emblems? That doesn’t seem to be a major thing to include), weapon skins are probably just modified to fit on each individual weapon, and vehicles besides the Hannibal variants seem to only have a paint job difference despite claims of better protection. The only stand out stuff are the maps, but even those are mostly Forge and remixes. Noctus, Tyrant and Torque seem to be the only original non-remixed maps and Torque is already being remixed for Memories of Reach.

So, sure, the updates are free, but with so much repackaged, recycled stuff I’d hope they were free.

this, just when i think they can pull through and make something good they give another remix of a map.

for halo 6 id much rather just have all our playlists right at launch day. and just pay for some good actual maps. not waiting months just to play a favorite game type or to get same armor with a new un noticeable stripe that seems to make it legendary but still ugly AF.

missed opportunity to bring back Spire or Boneyard from reach. Spire would have been great for ground pound carnage

but nope we get a old map…with snow…

Halo 6 better be amazing since it seems 343 has their hole team on it leaving no one to make NEW content for halo 5

I like all the updates so far I’m not hard to please. I do wish that we had as many maps as we have emblems and armors.

…Oh my… Yes complaining about other’s opinions isn’t really nice… BUT what UnhandyKarma3 did wasn’t that. He stated his opinion on a fact. The fact being that people are complaining about free updates. FREE updates. Then asked for people’s thoughts on the situation and their opinion on the updates. My opinion is: The updates are nice because they’re free. “Oh boy, I sure do like spending $15-$25 on this sweet CoD DLC that contains (Usually) flawed maps that play horribly compared to their launch maps and receiving maybe 1 weapon.” I prefer to have these free updates that may come with less maps, but they’re actually balanced, and the updates come with: More than 1 weapon, tons of new customization items, gameplay and UI changes, balancing, more forge goodies, and sometimes new vehicles.

EDIT: I forgot to mention: Monthly updates with all that, but other games take months to put out just 4 usually flawed maps that people quickly lose interest in, and SOMETIMES 1 new weapon. Maybe 3.

People are entitled to their opinions. When you pay “x” amount for a game, you expect it to be complete. It’s also not free, all the REQ purchases have to go somewhere.

So saying anybody who doesn’t like the updates simply because they are free is selfish? That seems to be the OP’s logic.

Quite true. Still some may share that opinion (myself included, yes)
Now I’m just saying what some people do with all the “selfish” and “greedy” attitude’s is bad in my book, but still all we can do is respect their opinion

No, the post was meant to highlight the fact that these workers at 343i are tirelessly working towards bettering H5 for us, and they keep copping crap for it! They have a minimal team because the others are working towards H6 to ensure you are happy. So a minimal team working under immense time constraints are managing to pull off as much as they can, have I seen any praise or a thank you to them yet? No I haven’t. The poor buggers are working very hard, and obviously their work isn’t that bad considering you still play the game! I do acknowledge that they let us down at the launch, I do not deny that! Do they need to make it up to us? You betcha! But they are doing a great job with the position they are in, a thank you goes a hell of a long way. Maybe focus on some positives rather than appealing to the masses and hating on everything.

Oh look another dead horse topic let me get my stick to beat said dead horse jeeez

Honestly, I just want one decent non-remix map, every update. As far as I am concerned they owe us 4 original maps, I don’t care what else they throw in the update.

The OP isn’t sincerely interested in my opinion but hell I’ll give it anyways.

People aren’t asking for mountainous amounts of stuff. They’re asking to get the bare minimum amount of content the games have always contained at launch. Instead that content is being delayed and they’re getting buried in a bunch of trivial crap they never wanted to begin with.

“But the updates are FREE so you have no right to complain.” Of course they’re free, because it would be unjustifiable to charge money for them in the first place. Would anyone in their right mind pay for Oddball and KoTH when those modes have always come bundled with the base game in the past? No, because it’s a blatant greedy cash grab by the publisher.

“Be grateful they create these updates for you.” Aside from giving us maps and gamemodes, none of the stuff they’re creating takes any special amount of effort, and none of it was desired in the first place. I couldn’t care less about slight texture skins to various pieces of armor, or about even more emblems.

Then you guys come at us with relative privation fallacies. “At least it’s not Call of Battlefield where they charge $20 for the super -Yoink–boy DLC”. I couldn’t care less what kind of awful stuff other publishers are doing, it has no relevance to Halo 5.

“It takes them countless months of work to do ____”. No, I don’t buy this argument at all. I’m sure it does take countless months of work to create something as ambitious as Firefight or Warzone. But to create a simple arena mode like Assault, where they already have the code from the previous games as a reference point (as well as the current CTF code)? No, I’m not buying it.

DLC is free because 343soft wouldn’t see a return on making people buy Assault, Infection, Oddball, King of the Hill, etc. And, if they had done that, then the ghost town of a population would be even lower than it currently is.

These arguments telling us to be grateful for less content are getting old, honestly. Like, does anybody actually believe that less game modes are somehow better?

That’s fair I agree with what you are saying, why pay for something that was always offered as a free game mode in past Halo’s. My goal was to enlighten people to the fact that yes it is 90% stuff we have seen before but, do we really have to continuously post hate threads through the community? Not really. I welcome opinions wether they’re constructive or destructive. I don’t necessarily have the ability to prevent either. I think a lot of people (my opinion) need to calm down with the negative and stop repeating the same tired stuff every single update. Seriously. It is getting as boring and predictable as 343i.

I wouldn’t say ghost town, it’s been set to regions now to help prevent lag and high latency. There’s still a lot of people playing the game, just look at all the hate messages spamming the forums!
