Please return map pack only playlists!!

About a year ago I bought the Castle Map Pack and was only able to use it until the castle playlist was not available (I really liked the maps too). Later I bought the Champions Map Pack and I only was able to use it for a short while.

I bought the Majestic and Crimson map packs after reading that all playlists do use the DLC maps. Now I feel like I wasted money. :[

I read another post that say the same thing I am experiencing, so I am not the only one and I am sure a lot of others would like to use their maps they bought.

Please 343, let us use what we paid for! Make those playlists permanent!

What do you guys think?

Oh yeah buddy, there are quite a lot of us who have posted about this for quite some time now. The answers you might receive from both 343 and members here are usually something like, “Well there was just the Squad DLC playlist up.”, or “You need to find some friends who have DLC and search with them.”

There is also the problem that DLC dedicated playlists have been notoriously poorly populated. It is obvious, with the addition of Heavies to permanent status, that they pay more attention to the numbers in the playlists than the number of posts on these forums.

I still hope though. I still hope that DLC will be made available to everyone, and the need for a dedicated playlist will be no more. The funny thing is though, even with all this bad experience I have had with DLC starting with Reach, I will still probably buy all the DLC. I am a Halo fan, and I like having access to all things Halo.

i noticed that DLC maps happen to show up in team doubles very often.
anyways why don’t they give them away for free already. i can’t imagine many people buying it right now and it’s just a waste that these maps hardly get played. i know microsoft never gives those things away for free, even if no one is buying it anymore, but c’mon…It should be for free and a must-download in order to play multiplayer, imo…

Because it isn’t 343’s decision. They are simply the developer, paid to create the content and monitor the online portion of the game. Anything that is created for use on the XBL marketplace is ultimately under control of the MArketplace and marketing teams. Then with the added variable of Microsoft’s DLC policy, where any DLC that adds new achievements cannot be free, chances of the map packs being made free is very slim to none.

The least 343 can do is make it a requirement to have dlc maps for certain playlists like Bungie did with big-team slayer on Halo 3. That’ll get people wanting to buy dlc then.

You think I could ask for a refund, do I call xbox support?

I know that it works, but I never used them. I shouldn’t have to go through a hassle to use them. I would have a lot of trouble inviting people to my custom games because the majority of players do not have the dlc, so I find the dlc useless.

Or they will not care because they are inconsiderate?

They tried it with Infinity Slayer and quickly abandoned the idea.

> Starting 9/16, you will need the Majestic Map Pack to play Infinity Slayer. As the goal of this is to gauge if the DLC-required playlist solution is a viable one, we will be monitoring its population closely. The Game of the Year edition of Halo 4 – which includes all Halo 4 map packs – launches in early October, so we scheduled this change for a time when we can gather data without its impact, then also with it. I’d like to stress this is an experiment, and is in no way, shape or form a permanent move at this time. The primary thing to note is we know you want to play your DLC more often, and we’re dedicated to doing everything we can to make that happen.

> Also, after reviewing the last month of feedback and data from the Team Slayer playlist, we’ve decided to remove the Majestic DLC requirement. One of the primary goals of this experiment was to determine the feasibility of required DLC in Matchmaking, and while we knew the population of the playlist would drop, we found that the resulting numbers did not allow for the optimal Matchmaking experience for this playlist. As of this coming Monday, no DLC will be required to play in the playlist. Moving forward, we’ll continue to investigate the best ways to make DLC content available in Matchmaking. If you’d like to see where all of the DLC maps have been integrated into Matchmaking, this information is always available on the Halo 4 Playlists page. We thank you for your feedback, and encourage you to hop in and enjoy!

No refunds.

> All items purchased or rented from Xbox Live Marketplace, using the Web or your Xbox 360 console, are non-refundable.

Agreed

Yes unfortunately. Btw with “they” I didn’t mean 343, but Microsoft.

“Everyone” wants them, but when they are up they have one of the lowest population.

I have seen a fair few posts now on this topic and i couldnt agree more!
I spent the extra money on ‘Limited Editions’ and DLC and should be able to play it without organising to group together other players from around the world who all have DLC.
In regards to population of playlists and how that determines 343’s choice of playlist, Multi-team has now gone which had easily over 300 population at peak times, same as Dominion now. I haven’t ever seen Proving Ground above a 100,usualy around 12 during the day.
Surely more people would be playing a DLC ONLY playlist?

If all else fails then add me and lets see if we can get a full lobby with all DLC.

The Halo community is the best bar none. Its been a while since i have been on here and its good to see players still willing to help each other out!

Mr IceT

OP this has been discussed multiple times. I too have all the DLC and rarely get to play them.

I wish when they had the Global Championship they gave out DLC rather than Avatar items, or other games. If you already had the DLC you could give it to a friend that didn’t. So a lot more people would get access to the better maps in the game.

I also suggested that they have monthly challenges on occasion and those that complete it get a code for a DLC map pack. I also would do this to give it away to somebody that doesn’t have them.

I hope DLC is a problem that is fixed in Future Halo titles. So many good maps hardly ever get enjoyed.

Have DLC as cosmetic stuff only weapons skins, armor skins, early access to DLC maps. Then give the maps away for free after 2-3 months to everyone and make the playlist DLC required so people have to download them.

Both are great ideas. I hope they can come up with some kind of solution as well. The way they are going about it now is not working.
