Please retcon prometheans teleport abbility...

So alot of people been telling me that the saving grace of halo 4 was it’s story, and while yes it was it’s strongest part of halo 4 (as in everything else was more or less ruined) it was far from perfect. There is NO tention in halo 4, why? Because prometheans can teleport wherever they want, whenever they want, with no “cooldown” as seen in spartan ops. What I’m getting at is: UNSC only survived because of incompetent writing, the prometheans could’ve all teleport to the chief at once during the lvl Infinity and BAM, no more chief. Then all teleport instantly to del rio. BAM no more captain, etc. etc.
Another example is the insanely poorly written spartan ops (with might i add dumb cinematics where the elites and spartans have no shields and “covenant” are using orange explosives… It’s like they’re ashamed of working with halo) when the prometheans board the infinity to capture Halsey, they just do what I just mentioned, they teleport, grab Halsey and get out. They could just do that over and over and over until no human remains.
Now I am aware that according to some guy in spartan ops (forgot who says it, possibly just some random guy) mentions how they should get away far from Requiem so that the prometheans can’t teleport to the ship, this probably means that they wont be able to teleport freely unless near some forerunner artifact or ship. But still it bothers me.

And while we’re at the subject of campain let’s talk the ending, cortana just happens to able to become hardlight conveniently when needed… FFS that’s just lazy, people saying that the story of halo 4 is good have to be refering to the personal story between John and Cortana… Or atleast so I hope.
And while I’m venting my disgust for halo 4 wtf did they do to the jackals and elites, the elites are a hybrid with brutes and have the wierdest brown, spotted texture for their skin and have horns… Horns? Really? And the jackals went from bird like creatures to dinosaurs. “Oh well the jackals and elites are a sub-species” NO they’re not, I don’t care what the manual says or whatever the wiki says, if that was the case they would’ve been clear about it and put the old jackals and elites in the game as well. Just like they did in Reach with skirmishers where the old jackals where still in the game and skirmishers functioned severly different.

This was quickly thrown together so I’m sorry for any grammar misstakes or spelling errors…

I do agree about the prometheans being able to teleport but I think that the elites and jackals look fine and even better in halo 4 and the elites don’t have horns that’s their armor. but the jackals do look like dinosaurs

-I agree with the Promoteans’ teleportation thing.
-Like it or not, those jackals in Halo 4 are a sub-species.
-Not all Sanghieli look the same, just like us. That’s why the Arbiter is brownish, and Rtas is white. Different skin colors.
-The whole Cortana making herself out of hardlight whenever she wants doesn’t seem crazy to me.
-SpOps’ story was good, but the delivery was meh. I like Thorne, though

i agree that the ability should have some sort of cool down. and i mean… its a game. not gonna over analyze it.

and birds and dinosaurs are relatively close to each other so i’m ok with that.

The ability to teleport for an armor ability would be to complicated for a server to handle yes it would be an amazing thing to do but
I feel it would be very complicated unless you teleported at random.

Teleportation has been a problem in Halo since day one. There have always been teleportation networks on Forerunner structures but the way they get used doesn’t make a huge amount of sense. Why didn’t Guilty Spark just teleport the Chief straight to the index in the Library? Why didn’t he teleport all of his sentinels to the Chief’s location to stop him later in the story? In Halo teleportation has always been used when it was convenient for the story. It sucks but it isn’t anything new.

Cortana had a lot of experience with Forerunner tech. At the end of Halo 4 she was stuck in Mantle Approach’s systems. She basically used the hardlight the way she does her hologram. Forerunner’s have the tech to shape harlight as they will, Cortana was using their tech, therefore she can manipulate its shape.

No idea where you get the idea that Elites had horns. They didn’t. As for their skin, Elites from different areas have different colour skin, much like humans. Elites from the Region the Arbiter comes from have darker skin than those from Jul’s region. The spots you mentioned are scales.

The Jackals being a sub species is a valid reason, like it or not. The Jackals are a bird based species, look outside and you’ll see there’s a wide variety of birds, many of which function in the same way. They don’t need to have both species of Jackals in the game for it to be justified.

Maybe the Prometheans are only able to teleport for short distances and have to be able to see where they are going. The reason they were able to get inside the UNSC INFINITY is because the artifact retrieved in Spartan Ops worked as a type of discrete long-distance portal system.

As much as I love the Sci-Fi genre, plot holes are a common issue with sci-fi media in general.

I don’t really get why they had to change any of the covenant races at all. Now they all just look like different breeds of dinosaurs. What I liked about the covenant in previous games was the diversity and the different roles the races played. Now we have lost that diversity, which is sad I think. The elites look pretty cool though, but thats because they didn’t get the extensive overhaul the jackals and grunts got.

@InfernoPenguin9 @eben gibon king
these are definitely horns: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140518133435/halo/images/b/b9/Jul_and_Gek.jpg

@BuckNasty56
Thorne was OK but he was kind of stupid, he didn’t even put on his helmet before fiddling with the artifact that he knew did something to dr Glassman(that was his name right?) And Apart from the teleportation thing spartan ops story was ok but the cutscenes felt like they weren’t thought out to much, prime example episode 6 Thorne shoots 1 plasma shot on 2 elites to kill them, no shield, nothing. After that the explosion caused by the covenant bombs on glassman were red/orange.

@Blackout8975
I eh… never wanted it to become an armor abbility, I don’t want armor abbilities at all in halo.

@eben gibon king
Yeah you’re right and i think i still got my nostalgia goggles on but in those scenarios at least it wasn’t an entire army that could teleport whenever they want… I don’t know guess i didn’t think to much of the story back in the day.

@TangentialShark
The problem still remains though, doesn’t change the fact that the story is completely broken because of this…

@Ramp94
Agree but the elites IMO are the worst… But that’s also what I mean they all look “the same” grunts, elites, brutes and jackals all have VERY similar textures on their bodies now, the black slick lizard like elites are now brown spotted just like the grunts. The very hairy ape like brutes are just brown textured as well (In reach and 3 that is). The misshaped akward looking grunts now have “normal” hands and feet with none of that spikey wierd stuff on them… I don’t know maybe I’m just being picky…

This is all very interesting and possibly deserving of a query to Catalog, but WTF makes you think the Elites now have horns, and since when has any Halo developer need to be clear about such things? I guess everything’s apperance gets retconned each game just because the models change? And why aren’t you mad about that?
