Please remove soft kill barriers!

I hate soft kill barriers with a passion. I am a forger and hate when I can’t get past a soft kill in a part I want to forge at. I’d rather have invisible barriers that we could glitch out of in Halo 2 and 3. Of course this belongs no where in matchmaking, but there are going to be 3 forge maps. Please remove these barriers from those maps at least.

the real reason they added it was because of camping spots and there were some points on the map where you would fall right through. kill barriers were also in halo 3 but they weren’t a timed death

There’s no need to have them present in forge. I don’t camp on a rock when I’m forging. I know kill barriers were in Halo 3, but things like the turrets and crap you could eaily get past by overloading the map.

Wait, you’re annoyed that the game is preventing you from going to an area that they didn’t design the game to work in and would prefer going back to a system to allow you to glitch yourself into a part you’re not supposed to be in? Do you also complain about weapon nerfs?

yea you had to break the map. it makes sense to have them. I mean in halo 3 you would walk in an are and you would here beeping but then boom your blasted to hell. in halo reach/4 it would give you a timed death so if you didnt return in time you would instantly die.

For forging, yes I wish they would remove them. And that’s a pretty big conclusion to jump to. Are you one of those people who ill explode if I say I don’t like something in Halo?

Regardless, a sandtrap remake (if it happens) will be terrible with ten second barriers.

Those kind of barriers alowed you to move through them at a certain speed, and there were easter eggs if you managed to survive (sandbox anyone?)

I liked those barriers.

What is the point of having any kill barriers in the forge world Impact. I can sort of understand there purpose on many maps but this is two large rocks in space. There is no where to go. Put the soft kills two hundred meters off the surface and allow us access to the entirety of the level.

There are so many things I would like to do with this level but the soft kills are preventing it. ARGH! Pleas, please remove soft kills from this level at least!

I agree 100%. Ive started a few threads about this but they get eaten fast. This is basically how I see it. Soft kill barriers are good on maps. They are necessary for balanced/glitch-free play on matchmaking, but… when forging, we need to be able to have full use of the map.

how? Simple.

343i needs to use their already in place soft and hard kill bariers present in forge to make their map borders. This way, when we go into forge, we have the option to either delete them or use them. It should be our choice. Now, 343i can keep their vision of a balanced map, and we can have full creativity in doing something that 343i may not have thought of.

Exactly. For the default map, 343’s “official” version, 343 has to either eliminate the scenery and make the level look like crap, let people run/hide on/in said scenery and have the level play like crap, or do what they’ve done now and put some sort of barrier between you and the stuff that looks cool but would ultimately break gameplay.

Forge, however, is quite different. Not only are we adding in our own scenery and structure, which could be used to “fix” glitched areas or prevent unbalanced gameplay, but ultimately any problems with a map we forge are not their fault. Say they do what we’re asking here, let all of the soft kill and hard kill barriers in forge be removable and have the traversable areas of the map be the entirety of the map area. Any problems in forged maps because of this would be entirely the fault of the forger. The part they coded to be playable works fine… if you want to work outside of that, it’d be up to you to make it work.

Seriously, just patch in an option to let the currently hardcoded kill boundaries be deletable like the regular ones, but have a little License Agreement thing pop up that you have to check before you can continue. Have it say that any problems with your map that arise from the removal of those barriers are your responsibility. That way they can cover their butts legally in case of player butthurt, and we can make all those cool forge maps we’ve been wanting to.

343 isn’t going to be removing any barriers from maps so asking is pointless.

Also, this thread is 13 months old. Let’s try to be mindful of age when posting in a thread. Thanks!
