Seen Ske7ch make a tweet recently discussing the possibility of older promotional items on the store and I honestly couldn’t agree more.
A lot of these cosmetics were only available before the game was even out and exclusive to the US meaning a lot of us never got the chance to get them. These cosmetics are also going for insane prices rn by scalpers which really needs to stop.
I’m not usually one to recommend putting stuff on the store but in this situation it really is much better for everyone than doing nothing with it. Making them free is also an option but I’d think people who paid for those cosmetics back then would be annoyed by that.
theyll prob be in the store in 5-8 years at the rate of their release with store content and the fact they make coatings and visors and such with legit 1 digit difference in shading so almost the same colors. meaning they have an extreme amount of coating options
As long as they cost equal or more than what we paid for the promotional items, that’s fine by me. There’s one promo item that required you to buy a $375 Pelican for the code. Some people paid similarly for Razer mouse, headset, and keyboard, for their codes. Then you have people like me that bought tons of cans of Rockstars and Jazwares figures for the codes, only for 343 to change the Armor Coating to an AR Coating and sell clones of the Rockstar Coatings in 2 new colors
heres the thing you could get the code return the product. additionally if you keep the product you have the coating but you also have the item of value the product. while the coating is a free add on to the paid for product
Stuff like the Razer cosmetics are still accessible so I’d be surprised if they did those. I think they mean promotions that are no longer obtainable reasonably.
As for stuff like expensive Mega Construx sets etc I do understand but that price comes from the set with the code as a bonus. You can’t really expect them to price the cosmetic on the store anywhere close to the set lol.
My thoughts are that we should stop giving game developers a reason to implement more microtransactions. Its honestly pathetic to watch fans ASKING FOR MORE MICROTRANSACTIONS
With how busted Zeta sky is and how my Gf was screwed over on the OPI coatings. No. They should be earnable at worst, given away at best. At least those two specific ones because of how they went over.
I believe they’re going to eventually make similar coatings out of most of the promotion ones in due time. They’ve already done several already, like my RockStar Black and Gold Coatings for the Hogs, has like 2 variants that are similar already. The AR too I believe.
Nocturne Sky - RockStar Promo
Aureate Midnight - Purchasable Alternative that looks very similar
These are the two I’m talking about.
They’ll probably do the same with the rest over time. I mean, they have a similar coating for weapons to the 152 Watchdog set up already as well.
Man it would suck if they sold the Halo Infinite Xbox elite controller Weapon charm for cheap after I had to go through scalpers an dpaod like 220 for that thing from the Xbox store.
They already sold a regular themed controller weapon charm in S1.
Idk, this type of move isn’t uncommon. Especially after exclusivity contracts end. I remember in GoW3 all the different preorder bonuses went into the shop after the first year.
I would like to see the MCC model applied, really. Keep the store as a “fast track” option because Microsoft needs their money, but we should have the option to “purchase” these things in-game without having to spend anything but time. Hell, something like (yes, I know they’re different games) Assassin’s Creed, where they have Reda’s shop and then the actual shop, selling the same items.
I have the majority of the promotional items, and I’m in favor of them being purchasable. Its way better than online scalpers who would charge from ranges of up to 500 dollars, which is ridiculous. Yeah, it would be fun to be in that group of people who earned it, but more customization and less FOMO could only serve to benefit new and returning players alike.
I dont see why the items just dont go into a backlog area of the store where players can buy them whenever they want. It doesnt hurt anyone for them to just have any released items be available for purchase at any time
