They really need to prioritize desync.

I had almost all matches with high ping on tuesday. Really bad to play and on a stable connection and series x is ridiculous

Just keeping this post alive since 343 thinks cross core visor will somehow save this game… it’s a complete joke that ping gets worse with each update… i’m so over this game…

Almost close to a full year and it feels like they literally do not care

That’s because desync is caused due to how data transfer is handled by this game. Infinite is somewhat data intensive.

This would be anti-aim assist cause by desync. Basically your aim assist is being pulled to where the server thinks the person is/was and not where/is on your screen.

This is your issue. And it’s mine as well. Basically you are sending packets to the server at a nice quick rate. But your enemies which may have worse internet then you are not. Therefor the enemy is receiving your packet data quickly but you are not receiving theirs. Basically Halo Infinite punishes you for fast internet.

Thanks for the input however, I dont think internet speed has anything to do with it… internet plays a part but its more of how the net-code was designed… its more off a backend coding issue than it is internet speeds… you only need 5mbps for Xbox Live.

I get at least one desync game a play session (I usually play ~1-2 hours at a time) where it’s obviously occurring and costing me kills and even wins.

I have a Series X, a wired connection where my router is <10ft from my XB, and I live less than 2 hours from an MS data center. There is literally no excuse for Infinite to play as poorly as it does on a consistent basis.

Not 100% true. My buddy at 343 actually confirmed to me that internet speed does play a part. Like you said it’s not the whole picture by any means but with how infinite handles connection having faster internet is actually worse.

We’ll see improvements to desync once co-op is released and the full networking team can get back to focusing on it. We’ll also see a major improvement when support for Xbox One ends either at the end of 2023 or 2024.

Thanks for the input… interesting that faster speeds hurt you more than help… this is what happens when you have to many cooks in the kitchen… the code is probably million of lines long…

Oh. So all I need to do is strangle my router?

Sounds good.

So I haven’t actually confirmed this yet but I have a theory.

My theory is the reason Halo Infinite is so data intensive is it’s offloading some high resolution texture rendering work or other computational work to the “cloud” aka the servers. This makes sense for two reason:

  1. Offloading texture rendering or other computer work like AI etc… help keeps the overall foot print (file size) small on the SSD/HD

  2. It also removes constraints from the consoles hardware allowing the game to hit its desired FPS target much easier. So Series X|S at 120 FPS and Xbox One at 60 FPS.

We have to remember that for at least 4 out of the 6 years of development Halo Infinite was a planned Xbox One game. It was only in the last 2 years of development that 343i received dev kits for Series X|S. That’s not a lot of time to optimize a game that’s already 3/4 way through development.

Every day in every game desync gets me killed at least once. Great example was just a game or two ago I was behind a rock and was dead even though he was on the opposite side. It is pretty blatant the desync issues has not bee resolved.

Desync happens more often when doing things like sprinting, sliding, grappling - basically things with high player movement.

Yea something is up, I took a break but came back a few weeks ago and it’s been worse since the doubles update I think. Very frustrating.
