Please offer a classic hopper

Looking at the H5 beta you can’t deny that 343 are trying new things. Whether they turn out to be good, we will have to wait and see. But when this is all said and done, I pray-- please 343-- that they will make a classic Team Slayer hopper without sprint or the new Spartan abilities. I really hope the developers understand I’m trying not to be insulting. I know I haven’t tried their new game yet, and I’m not wanting to pass judgment. These could be good innovations for Halo. But I know that there will always be a desire by people to play the game in a more old-school fashion. It only seems a logical choice that they would maximize variety to give us the best of both worlds.

Please don’t mistake me for a whiny prat. I’m only saying what I feel will be helpful for the game.

Good job, by the way, on MCC 343. It’s a really nice compilation and I’m glad to have it for X1

I don’t see why they wouldn’t have one it makes sense.

It would need to stay a separate playlist as well, and not get taken offline or merged with another for “population consolidation” or whatever else.

343i merged Legendary BRs with Infinity Slayer which, um, how should I put this gently…wasn’t a good idea.

I noticed that too. Legendary BRs could have been a saving grace for Halo 4 had it been in matchmaking from the start and was left separate. Hopefully they’ll be aware of this when they develop custom games and matchmaking for Halo 5. We do have to count our blessings too, though: No more load-outs, weapon drops, flinch, diminished sprint. These are all really good. I might be able to get my head around the aiming down sights (since they’re more or less cosmetic) but if they don’t nail a permanent classic style game mode it’s going to hurt them. People like plain jane Halo. It should always have its own hopper.

As for the first response: yes it makes sense, but it makes sense in hindsight. And I feel unless we’re vocal that it’s a pivotal issue it might be lost on the part of the developers.

The thing is though, even Legendary BRs came out months after release. There needs to be a tighter timeframe to implement a classic/competitive playlist. Something like 1 month after release, or even on release day, would be a huge reassurance to the community that yes, 343i has heard some peoples’ concerns and they’re going to address it in this one playlist.

ZBNS for Reach could have been the saving grace for Reach as well, if only Bungie had moved faster.

Overall I agree with your sentiment. Halo 5 (so far) seems to be a lot better than 4.
