After gamescom, Im not standing impressed… everything looks plastic! this is one of the main reasons I disliked halo 4, armor and weapons looked made of plastic. it makes the game look cheap and babyish. I know they may just be placeholders, but in my opinion, I want the weapons and armor and even environment to look more metallic and real and dark and shady, not plastic-y. what do you guys think?
It’ll get better later. Polish isn’t done until everything that isn’t working gets cut and its later into development.
i know it’s a beta yadda yadda yadda, but i agree, they do need to change this. they need the more used and aged armor back. i noticed in halo 4, the saw more than anything else looked plastic, and the armor still looks too segmented and plastic like halo 4. although some they showed did look cool
The weapons look fine, it’s just the armor concepts that are too shiny IMO.
CALM THE HELL DOWN. The armour isn’t even near being fully textured, and the beta trailer has shown us that the armour won’t be that shiny. (It looks like ceramic to me.)
As for the weapons, most modern guns incorporate plastic, and the Defence Distributed Liberator is made from nothing but plastic. Halo is updating it’s sci-fi designs.
Why is the armor so… spaced out?
Please don’t go with the Halp 4 armor design, the beta trailer armor looked better than that.

This is forum cancer, seriously what’s with the drama?
First off, its a work in progress and those models were more than likely being rendered from a computer without their finalized textures.
Secondly, I personally (minus the glossiness) love the armor.
Yes, they are variants we have seen before but they look better. They cover the body more and the undersuit is once again a matte grey/black.
The armour is actually fine. The glossiness is a no no.
Also, anyone else notice that they put the new Mk 6 armour with Fred’s helmet?
I personally love that one!
Although I don’t really like Defender…
I do hope that they change their art style from Halo 4’s to a more torn and battered one.

I-it looks like we’re getting the original Commando variant? The ad-hoc predecessor to the Mark V iteration of Commando?

This is a ‘real’, functioning, lethal firearm. It is made of 100% plastic. It is real. (Did I mention that?) The two are not mutually exclusive.
Besides, on a poll I made on the new weapon designs, the overwhelming majority say they like the new plastic parts.
The trailers just released a few hours ago and already someone’s complaining about the -unfinished- renders.
Can’t say I’m surprised, really.
I don’t understand this because, from what I’ve seen, the weapons have now perfect textures (they’re different from the shiny at E3). Maybe the Spartans need a retouch, but I’m fine if it keeps like this.
