it was awful in reach and it was pretty bad in halo4
but the sad thing is that its in halo 2 as well and almost worse seeing as seeing as a ghost takes 1 sniper shot to kill
please no more bs snipers more effective at vehicles than rocket launchers

Well, you even say it. It was in Halo since the beginning. Therefore people will want it to stay as it is. The sniper rifle in Halo is actually an anti-vehicle weapon, but it has been getting worse over the games, as vehicle combat increases.
It’s not only an anti-personnel sniper rifle. There is a reason for them all having anti-matériel in their names.

Agreed, there is zero need for the premier anti-infantry weapon to also be absurdly effective against vehicles.
For the “but its an anti-material rifle!” types, Anti-Material is not the same thing as anti-armor/anti-air. Penetrating canopies and windshields is something that makes sense for an anti-material rifle, wrecking a banshee from across the map in 4 shots is not.
Besides that is simply isn’t fun to have vehicles be wrecked so easily by something that doesn’t require much skill(against vehicles), how do you effectively counter a hitscan long range weapon other than cover? even the laser gives you a warning.
Anti-vehicle precision weapons like the sniper are bad for BTB. The DMR and friends also do way too much damage against vehicles.
I agree. A long range weapon shouldn’t be able to damage vehicles that much, as it’s hard to hide a big, slow moving vehicle from it. It should only do damage when it hits specific, hard to aim at parts of the vehicle, or even removed completely.
In this debate; I am basing my opinion on actual military weapons, sniper rifles are used to disable or even destroy vehicles. (Most basic weapons actually could disable the engine block, if done correctly, so keep that in mind)(A DMR could be used to shut down a warthog or scorpion) So more or less, I am disagreeing in the topic because I like the ‘real’ aspect. In fact, all of the weapons should be more real, not watered down for the completive side. So people like me that like weapons to be realistic is already sacrificing ‘real’ gameplay. So keep the rifles the same.

Why would you want realism in Halo?

Yeah, in real life an Assault Rifle could take someone out in 1 shot. No need to shoot a normal person with that huge of a sniper that can penetrate bulletproof armor. Snipers are only for long-range and anti-armor purposes.
A pistol kills in three shots to a target with energy shields while every automatic, regardless of caliber, takes half a magazine to kill someone.
If you want to use realism as an argument, you have a lot more to tackle.

I liked it in Halo CE. You could simply snipe occupants out of vehicles if you were a good enough shot, as most vehicles left the driver exposed.
I personally find it fun to hit vehicle weak points to take the pilot out and leave the thing open for my team using the sniper.
I agree with the weapons damaging the vehicles because vehicles should not be allowed to be supreme when you do not have a rocket launcher

I agree rockets need buffed. Snipers should be just another anti-vehicle option.

That guy went back a while too.
I see no reason for the sniper to be downgraded, if your getting shot at, follow the vapor trail’s! And, like with the Banshee, it makes sense why a sniper would blow it up in a few shots, one, they are fighting advanced aliens, of course they’re going to use higher caliber with every weapon. Two, the Banshee has no shields, and little armor, so of course the sniper is going to destroy it.
