Because you know that most people will boost for them anyways. Keep chiev boosters out of MM. I still match up with boosters in HALO 3 to this day, let alone Reach. Hell, I even boosted some of Reach’s achievs when Defiant came out.
MM chievos are a waste of potential challenge. The more Campaign and Spartan Ops achievements we get, the merrier, not to mention the extra replay value and over all fun.
How about replace MM chievos for a 1 to 50 rank system to keep the challenge forever there.
Who else agrees?
There are gonna be achievements. All Xbox 360 games have them.

I’m only talking about matchmaking, lol.
Interesting Topic on 1-50 rank
Most of the achivements in h3 were easy to get and do i dare say people that boost to get them are a rare event? unless im in the wrong playlist

A lot of other games have matchmaking achievements. I like them.

same
MM achievements also limit what a dev can do with Matchmaking. The worst are playlist-specific ones, as they force a dev to keep a playlist around even when MM would improve were the list scrapped.
Leave out rank based achievements. Getting to level 100 in Gears of War 2 resulted in many, many boosted King of the Hill matches.

I was going to mention something like that, but I didn’t know how to word it. lol. That’s why Halo 3 is stuck with that 7 on the 7th playlist. I’d rather have Grifball.
I hope they keep them out of MM. It’s one of the reasons map packs are not allowed as freebies down the line. Reach could really do with a few more players with the dlc maps.
I really liked the CEA Achievement where you had to storm the Beach on Legendary without anybody dying. I want more chievos like this. (=

Why do achievements prevent developers from releasing old map packs for free?
Anyway, I’ve been against multiplayer achievements ever since Halo 3. I was already none too fond of needing to splatter people with a Mongoose in a FFA game to get Scout shoulders, but having people beg to derail games just to boost achievements is annoying when all you want to do is play (however, I did get an achievement for sticking people when I was trolling a boosting session :3 ).
> Why do achievements prevent developers from releasing old map packs for free?
It’s ridiculous, yes - though one of the reasons -Yoink!- have cited for disallowing free content in the past. I should point out that I buy all halo DLC - it’s just super frustrating that there’s no one to play with…

Lots of the Anniversary achievements were awesome. One good one was going through the first encounter on Truth and Reconciliation without being detected.
However, those two -Yoink!- Library ones (one was to beat it in under 30 minutes on Legendary and the other to play it on Heroic or higher without dying) took me three days to get them in the same run. I wasn’t gonna do them individually. Naw, I’m real. proudface
But I agree. No MM achievements. I’d rather play the game than have to deal with boosters during the first few weeks after launch.

The Truth and Reconciliation achievement was amazing. And many others are, but I must agree with you about the Library ones. I still don’t have them. 343i really gave us a challenge here. Now that I speak about it, I really have the wish to try it again. (=
I gotta agree. In Halo 3 that mongoose kill achievement ruined many FFA games. Also I got many messages about boosting some achievements and that was really annoying. In Reach there were some annoying achievements too. Like everyone voting for elite slayer and then only using plasma grenades to stuck someone.
I’m sitting on the fence. I want MM achievements so I have something to work for in matches, but it’s annoying when you get people screaming at you for stopping them from getting achievement (seriously you should have heard the message I got when I stopped someone from getting an extermination Achievement), or getting constant invites for achievement boosting lobbies.

I’m warning you. Bring a tissue box, band--Yoink!- and a spare controller.

No. Beer should be enough to prevent any kind of damage.
I agree, focus achievements on the campaign. A lot of people don’t even have XBL.
