If it becomes free to play, that will mean microtransactions galore. We can’t have microtransactions in another Halo game. D:

We can and we will. They can’t just change the model now this deep in development. I don’t see the issue at all if this means more frequent Halo content.

Free to play is something that was in mind for the game a long long time ago. They can’t suddenly change their business model for the game with under 3 months til launch.
Whilst I understand your concerns I do feel as if you’re looking at this from only one perspective - that being free to play is bad.
What about the benefits of free to play? Loads of new players will be jumping into the game to play meaning Halo’s population will be larger than ever.
There are free season unlocks, you don’t have to pay any money if you don’t want to.
The developers at 343i have a sustainable cash flow model for the game meaning they’re able to support Halo Infinite after launch for the long term with loads of new seasons, maps, weapons, vehicles etc.
I like microtransactions, I for one plan to drop $200 day one, lets goooo infinite!
Gotta attract fresh meat somehow, not to mention that some sort of money has to fuel 343i/Halo Infinite for the next decade.

As a long term Halo fan I just see this as a win-win. Do I disagree with some of their micro-transaction model? Of course however it is still better than most games. If we waited 6 years to get a constant flow of Halo content for the next decade then this is a great choice.
Yes, it does mean more microtransactions, since it is a free game. All the microtransactions you’re fearful of seem to only be tied to unique cosmetics and things of the sort. You’ll be fine. As long as it doesn’t effect the actual gameplay negatively there is nothing to worry about.
People act like devs can’t inject mircotransactions in a 60 dollar game as opposed to a free one lmao
F2P Halo? That’s a dream to be honest.
This could either be a good thing or a bad thing. One is that we’ll have more stuff to earn through gameplay and provide resources for potential add-on campaigns. The bad thing is the base campaign could be our last. Hope they’ll continue to add stories later down the road.
removing paywalls for playing the game and exclusively monetizing cosmetics is a win-win for both corporation and consumer. having ways to earn cosmetics without paying is even better.
Already confirmed mate.
I don’t know where some of you think they “can’t” ditch the F2P aspect or the stores, it’s not like some games haven’t randomly added in them systems into a games life and if they can be added, then they can be removed just as well.
it won’t be an issue that they can’t however, the issue is they just won’t want to. I’m in the park where I don’t see it as a positive overall, it’ll just mean more unnecessary money gouging from its playerbase and I’m sure I won’t be to involved with infinites multiplayer much, just depends on how unlocking stuff works and how effort one has to put in to obtain gear without buying into the season passes and such.
It sucks for sure, but it’s too late to change it.
Only thing we can do now is to not buy anything.
R.i.p red vs blue and colour customisation.
I try not to think of it as ‘free to play’ but more as ‘pay as you go’.
It’s up to me to spend proportionally to the fun I’m having. My own perceived value if you like.
I’ve pencilled in an annual budget (saving already) - but will be happy to keep it if 343 fails to tickle my fancy. On the same token they may even get me to open my wallet a bit wider.

I don’t get this point if view. How can you get upset about a free game that has ONLY cosmetic microtransactions.
Pay-to-win on the other hand is a scourge, but that’s not the case for Halo Infinite.
Just don’t spend a penny dressing up your dolly, and it will make literally no difference to your gameplay, plus you’ll have the money in your pocket. How can that be anything other than a win.
If it wasn’t free then it’d be something else funding the game. Being free reaches a lot of people and means no financial loss on your part (Assuming of course you didn’t buy anything in the shop).
Free multiplayer distribution model, notoriously worst idea. Remembering the experience of the MCC, from a sufficient number of smurfs, toxic players and cheaters (although they are really fighting with them). Then in INFINITE this problem will be exaggerated many times more. Especially remembering how it ended in Team Fortress 2, CS: GO and Apex Legends - a huge number of cheaters and smurfs. And if you consider that there will still be a paid pass as in the aforementioned projects, then I’m not ready to buy a single player campaign for this as a DLC.

I’m kinda likely to do the same. I WILL buy a battle pass, and if a armor coating I love is for sale…nothing to stop me.
I think it’s funny that people don’t want it to be free to play and they don’t want to pay for microtransactions.
Don’t like it? don’t buy it
so what your saying is like if a car is almost built but the floor manager says “take out this feartue one guy doesn’t like it” the response is gonna be “no we’re not taking this thing apart to remove one thing just because one person doesn’t like it” in short theres no way in the ever loving hell that the free to play part of infinte is getting the boot plus they said to us straight up the microtranactions are just cosmecic and ONLY cosmetic so your afraid of paying to look good
It’s not free to play because you have to buy an Xbox or windows PC…. Then they have you right where they want you!!! Suckers!
