Probably going to be lost in all the crying over the trailer but whatever…I think free to play is going to kill the game and everyone knows why… cheaters… there is no real penalty for cheating with a free to play game. Oh get banned make a new account and just never stop… 343 is not going to put the resources to stopping cheaters… if Activision cant do it then why would 343… it’s going to end up like halo 2… needlers shooting ghosts and tanks. Aim bot flying through the air killing everyone… the hacks in halo2 were crazy and fun from because its xbox and just spiced things up from time to time… but on pc it’s going to be in almost every casual game/ low ranked game and just people cheating to get a 50 or whatever rank system they put in… just my opinion from every other free to play game. I just want halo to be awsome again and -Yoink- battlepasses lol. Just add something you can pay and only vs other people that pay like prime in csgo but make it 60$ or something…
It will be interesting to see how 343 tackle the cheater issue.
No developers yet have managed to be 100% successful in combating this. And 343 don’t have experience with the free to play model and issues that come with it.

It’s not that Activision couldn’t do it, it’s that they don’t want to do it. Why? Because as you mentioned that’s more money and resources out of their pocket. Why bother when cheaters might pay for some stuff as well? That’s pretty much how Activision works; if it lines their pockets with cash, they don’t do anything about it and almost encourage it even.

It is entirely possible to at least cull the number of cheaters, Xbox One made it harder to hack into, so there is a possibility that Microsoft has been working on something for their PC brands as well. I’m honestly not sure who it is up to to deal with cheaters. The game is made by 343i but Microsoft owns the rights and provides the servers so is it a Microsoft issue or a 343i issue?
I get where you’re coming from but if you’re worried about cheaters then you should be more concerned about PC players if it becomes crossplay compatible since PC is a breeding ground for them. I wouldn’t be too worried about free-to-play. I think 343 knows what they’re doing to an extent.
i understand the feeling that free to play multiplayer is asking for more hackers in the game.
but i think 343i has learn much from activision Warzone free to play version that if there are a lot off PC hackers in the game all the xbox concole players turn crossplay off and if its not a option then there not gone play the multiplayer mode.
thats something 343i most have learn from a other big game that is free to play how to deal with the PC hackers.
and sure there will be a lot off xbox players turn off crossplay for a long time since there wane see first how 343i is dealing with the pc hackers in the halo multiplayer.
i will turn the crossplay function off since i not wane risk to play with cheaters and hackers in matchmaking for a long time so long it not shows there do something good with it like what Warzone has done more is that cheaters and hackers only end up to play against other hackers and cheaters and thats something that is working also good since its something all the hackers and cheaters hate.

H2 was infested on xbox back then, so he’s talking about that.
I’m going to be real here for a second, you can’t stop cheaters or even slow them down in an online fps. They will find a way around every system you implement pretty quickly. The only way to stop cheaters from making cheats that work for your game is for the game itself to have such a low population that it won’t be profitable to develop cheats for it anymore.
It would be up to 343i or whatever company they outsource to make the anti-cheat to patch stuff. (EZ anti cheat, ect.)

HI went from my most anticipated game of the year, to something I might play, to something I’ll probably never install. That’s a solid 10 days of work, even by 343’s standards.

There will always be hackers, but in free to play there will always be a lot, unless if 343 knows how to deal with them. Either way free to play doesn’t mean more people will keep playing. The game has to look and feel good to play to keep it’s player base which I doubt will be the case at launch

so long there is no multiplayer trailer we know notting how its gone look like and if 343i is smart there gone make a multiplayer trailer by showing the best grafic’s setting there is and not in the stat there have done with the campaign trailer.
