Please no exclusive armor

I’m hoping for a Halo 5 edition Xbox One to be announced at some point, and even though it may or may not be a headache to transfer all my data to a new Xbox, it’s something I’ll get if it’s announced.

But what I’m NOT hoping for is exclusive armor to come with it. As much as I loved my FOTUS armor, I just don’t think it’s fair that people who can’t spare the money for a new Xbox get penalized.

I was 16 when Halo 4 came out, so it was really hard for me to scrounge the money together for the special edition Xbox (but wow, the feeling of getting it and opening it is one I’ll never forget). I love Halo, but I had a friend at school who loved it even more, he knew the lore inside and out, and tell you anything you want to know about it, he also maxed every rank in every game.

He didn’t get the Xbox because he couldn’t afford it, and he was really distressed that he would probably never get it (luckily he found a code on eBay a couple of weeks ago for all the DLC armor, only cost £30).

My point is that exclusive armor should be avoided, skins are more forgivable but can still be frustrating, and if DLC armor is in Halo 5, it should be made available for everyone at some point.

Thank you for reading me rant, sorry if this topics already been posted.

I’m against exclusive digital content altogether, but I can’t deny the very unfortunate fact that it seems to be the way gaming is going…

Exclusives and Microtransactions are the norm, even if it did severely affect GTA Online.

I think we need the armor seen in Forward Unto Dawn… I liked those renditions of the Mark IV.

I agree, it splits up the community to those who will spend more. ANother thing is when DLC are released and the multiplayer was split up a lot, not as much as it was in halo 3 where you couldn’t even play a match but they should only sell dlc’s as a packaged or an even better solution to what used to happen was armour/skins were earned after a certain goal or skills rank not more money, that just takes the competitiveness outa the game and ruins the whole point of ranking up if you can just pay up front for new armour.

I wouldn’t mind exclusive armor, so long as it can be purchased legitimately after a set amount of time, say, 2 years.

Fred’s armor in Forward Unto Dawn was simply incredible, that huge vent on the front screams classic XD.

Though I think RECRUIT should embrace a design closer to the “first generation” Mark IV and ditch that chest impaling spike…

I feel like most reasonable gamers likely hate the idea of exclusive content, whether it’s for editions of the game, preorder stores, or extra equipment. I believe that special editions of the game should have EXTRA stuff rather than cutting parts of the game.

Unfortunately, I doubt that any of our wishes would make the slightest bit of difference in this matter because Microsoft is a big fan of making deals with retailers and the likes.

I don’t mind the exclusive armor, it doesn’t affect gameplay in any way or form with the exception of cosmetic visual differences, and it seems like just a cool little bonus for getting in early and preordering or for buying a higher priced edition.
I do think however, that they should be available at a later time in the game maybe as a microtransaction or as part of a DLC map pack, etc.

I don’t mind it so much when there is an armor for pre-ordering, because you a making a commitment by putting money toward a game you can’t be sure of, but when there is a different armor piece at ten different retailers plus one inside a special console, it feels a bit more like a slap in the face. Especially if there are completionists that wants to collect everything.

It would probably be better if it was made available as DLC later on.

I don’t really mind DLC exclusives, provided they’re not game changing advantages, like if someone spends and extra $50 on the game they’ll get a better gun. If they’re purely cosmetic I don’t mind that much, but I’d still prefer everyone to have the same chance in obtaining rare armour

I agree with you, but I’m sorry I would bet there will be exclusive store DLC.

I think that there should be one exclusive armour for preordering, with h4 it was ridiculous the amount of preorder armouur.

i would be impartial to an exclusive limited ed / console ed if they were both the same.

lastly one skin pack like h4 which anyone can buy, but just 1.

the rest of the armour should be unlocked.

I…Don’t get it.

How does exclusive armor hurt anyone?

If someone decides to put extra 100 bucks to a game just so he/she can get some extra content, let him/her.

When some of the exclusive content requires you to live in a specific country, it hurts lots of people.

So, what’s wrong with exclusive armor? It’s what help spartans stand out from the crowd.

If it doesn’t affect gameplay I don’t mind the exclusive armor either, in any way or form with the exception of cosmetic visual differences of course. I don’t see why people b#$^* about this.

Agreed

Well that is a problem that only MS can fix.

But, it’s just a cosmetic armor/skin. Nothing else.

Agreed. The standard multiplayer armor needs to be interesting. I would like it if we all started out with Johns armor set when we first get the game.

I prefer exclusive unlocks.

As in, armor unlocked for getting achievements from past Halo games, etc.

While I can understand the disappointment your friend felt OP. I still disagree with your rant, people like to be exclusive when they’re online. This is why people come up with unique names, try to find their own way to play the game or use unique armor combinations to make themselves look different. I’m a fan of exclusive unlocks for the game. What I’d really like is if you unlocked armor based on previous Halo achievements. Which is also something I’m sure your friend would enjoy, it’s not just a show of purchasing a particular item. It’s showing that “Hey, I beat Halo 1,2,3,Reach and ODST on Legendary. Yeah, I’m awesome.”
