Really, the title says it all. I love the Platinum Anniversary coating, but I can’t use it with the Mark V core, which I feel is a shame.
Yes, this. I agree completely.
any easy solution to this would be to make all Armour coatings universal, so we don’t run into this insulting restriction.
This is the best decision they could possibly make in my opinion^
preferably I’d rather they overhaul the armour colour system entirely into something more akin to Warframe’s Colour Pallets, a monetised selection of colour types and themes that on the basic one still offers customisation options for the character, a win win in other words.
this current system is just Destiny’s Shaders if they decided to restrict a fancy blue to a Hunter, denying the Warlock and Titan a neat colour choice.
Let’s start with baby steps
I would allow baby steps if they didn’t do what they did with the coating system, treating it almost like a gun or vehicle, which is a mistake.
combine that with the Armour Kits and thats even more restrictive, since those are basically skins.
However right now? an immediate appeasement would be making the coatings universal.
Overhauling the entire system would be low-priority for the developers and take time to implement, whereas making coatings universal would be significantly easier to do. Hell, even if they limited certain coatings to certain cores - such as the coatings that come from the armour kits on the current battle pass - they could make customization much more pleasing with relatively little effort by making the rest of the coatings universal.
I still don’t like the idea of exclusive coatings, since its antithetical to their emphasis on player expression.
as for Armour Kits themselves, on first glance they look more like packs, and some of the HCS ones have niiiiice looking colour schemes.
so finding out you can’t even use that separately with your own armour combination on that core is a disheartening one. reducing them to basic skins.
The battle pass kits only have very minimal elements that cannot be replicated using the individual pieces you can earn elsewhere on the pass, making them fair game in my eyes, but I can’t disagree as far as kits such as the HCS ones not allowing you to use their coatings elsewhere.
im not reffering to the pieces, im referring to the armour coatings, their colours.
The Reach Battlepass actually distributes the armour coatings separately from the Armour Kits ive noticed, which technically means while yes we have access to it, it doesn’t come from the kits.
The coating on a kit is one of the “pieces”, and all of the coatings on the battle pass kits are available for use separately.
This would be great especially for if/when the Mark V helmet is added for the Mark V [B] core.
exactly, which is why I end up finding the actual kits for the HCS misleading.
