The Forge in Reach is an amazing feature, lacking in some areas, but I think having a forge in halo 4 with pretty much any utility you can think of could completely open up the halo world.
I’m pretty sure invasion was originally a user made game mode, which is an example of how player’s creativity can enhance the halo universe.
DOTA, which spawned the massively successful LoL, HoN, and of course DOTA 2, was just originally a player made map and game type.
Not only does it allow players to change the game in the way that they want it, it also can lead to game types being added with less work on the developers part.
The only thing that’s wrong with the forge now are just me nitpicking. Like you can’t copy and paste, as far as I know there are no team sensitive death zones, I can’t find a shield that allows you to manually select what can and can’t go through it, and just small things. The things you can create in the forge as it is are amazing, and I think it could be one of the strongest points of Halo 4 if it is done even better than it is now.
The user created maps and mods attributed to the massive success Minecraft, and I fail to see how it can negatively shape the game in any way,
Sadly I haven’t played Halo 3, I’ve only played 1, 2, and Reach, and I’ve only ever seriously played the latter. But I have heard that Halo 3 was better, so if they made halo 4 like 3, and added a really good forge, it can only be even better than both of them.
I’d also love to see a good way to make custom game modes, including spawning in different places and with different weapons in a set order. Like your first death you spawn at point A with a pistol, your second death you die at point B with a sword.
I just think it can be the icing on the cake for the Halo franchise.
> Give us more interactive forge stuff, with triggers and buttons and drawbridges and explosives. That is the best way to get the community rolling.
I hate how I have few options with shields at the moment but it could just be game engine limitations. Like if I walk close to a one-way shield I get sucked through it, and if I try to walk through the other side I like bounce off of it, instead of running into it continuously as if it were a wall.
