Please make the game better for casual players

please don’t make infinite’s multiplayer like halo 5 where every match is just non stop full of sweats I’d like to be able to play the game for fun and not be put up against people playing like there trying to win a tournaments

‘Sweats’ is such a weird term.

A champion player could be really chilled in a social match - but still absolutely slaughter a bunch of Bronze players. And to them he/she comes across as a ‘sweat’. Those same bronze players could be playing their heart out - getting super sweaty - but because they are 0-10 everyone just assumes they are having a good time.

It’s a state of mind I guess. A very subjective one you make against an online entity that is beating you.

On the weekend I was playing a game of ranked with a mate. He was T-bagging everyone (including at least one team-mate). I was in party chat with him so I know he was laughing and joking and making fun of his own incompetence - but he could very easily have come across as a ‘try-hard’ to an opponent who was being dunked.

And the funny thing is… if you get upset that someone is beating you… doesn’t that, by definition, make you at least a little bit sweaty?

If you mean because every game is matched to players close to your skill level and you can’t just put your feet up and smash a bunch of noobs every game - well that’s just silly. Good matchmaking is important (in social and ranked) to keep games close / interesting. Obviously social should be a bit more relaxed - and have a wider range of skills - but the teams should always start out evenly matched. It’s better for everyone that way.

It’s purely your own personal mentality when it comes to games like this. It’s completely understandable to get frustrated at losing, but if you go into it with the mindset of absolutely having to win, of course you’re going to hate it if you lose. Why not try and convince yourself that you’re playing to have fun whether you lose or win? That you just wanna mess around and see if you can build up some skill along the way? And again, completely understandable to be frustrated when you get matched up against much higher ranks, but you could also look at it as an opportunity to learn even better techniques than you would from players your own rank.

Even in competitive MM, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get the outcome you want. The second you start reaffirming that it’s not fun anymore just because you lost a few times, the game becomes less of just that and more of a job. That’s no way to enjoy games!

But back to Infinite, 343 isn’t in control of the type of players that will play the game. There’s always going to be an incentive to try to play better (be it unlocks or XP or rank standings), but you shouldn’t let it refrain yourself from enjoying the game any less.
