Hello Halo community this is a kinda general post i am making related to forge, i have always been huge fan of forge ever sense they first put it in to halo 3 and you had to load specially made maps and use that stacking tip to get objects to float. But now with halo 5 i want to get more majorly involved if there is anyone who is a very good forger that really knows how to make good quality maps i could use some mentoring i have plenty of experience making maps in forge and using the tools but when it comes to the more specialized forging techniques. Like making maps that are optimized for competitive play and correctly placing spawn points and doing scripting i could use tips in all of these areas as i want to become a much better forger and start making maps that i would feel confident putting out there for the community to review and take feedback on. i have the MCC so i can play around in learning things in that until forge comes out in December for halo 5 also as a side note i have never forged with help before so if anyone wants to do that, i would be down to learn some new tricks that way also. message me on here or over xbox my gamertag is “IcarusInundated”.
Hey, Inundated.
I’ve been a Forger since Reach, and even though I’m not the greatest map-maker by far, here are some tips that may help you out:
- Before you build a map in Forge, sketch it out on a black sheet of notebook or printer paper for concept. - Base your map design off of combinations of other maps you’ve played on from all kinds of different games. Making a new map from scratch can be very difficult and frustrating. - Ask friends for their input before you show it off to the forums, or wherever you feel like showcasing it. Most of my custom maps have had over ten people give it feedback and tweak a few things. - Don’t over-saturate your maps with weapons, try to sprinkle them strategically around the map.
