WHat are my thoughts? i dont think its a big deal that you cant drop the flag. No more flag juggling, and you move at a normal speed now instead of moving slow. Also, you have a pistol to protect you too. it also seems to encourage teamwork. im actually liking this new mechanic.
ALSO: it seems youll get a pistol with the flag no matter what your weapons are!
Eughhh I’m done with this forum for the day.
Where’s all this “Yay no more flag dropping” stuff coming from? It was never even a problem in Halo 3 and you couldn’t even do it in Reach, it’s just common sense to anyone who is more than “Not brainless” at Halo that dropping the flag as and when you need to, to either abort a flag run/get cover/shoot someone is vital to individual skill and decision making in CTF.
I just don’t get this forum. 343 keeps taking things that were never a problem, changing them, then suddenly everyone on this forum has to leap to their defense and explain why it is a problem and how 343 are brilliant and right with everything they do.
Strangely, I never heard anyone say "You know what would be good, if we were forced to hold the flag, thus meaning you either capture it or die with no alternative!"
“Great point, I’ve always thought there was a little too much to CTF and we needed to dumb it down that way.”
It’s like how everyone defended bloom. You never saw people saying how Halo would be better with bloom, but as soon it it appears, everyone feels the need to explain why we needed it - when we clearly didn’t (Or at least not in the way it was implemented).
This just adds absolutely nothing to Halo’s gameplay and trying to defend it is as much of a joke as not being able to drop the flag in itself.
OP, enough, there are already over 9000 threads on this topic already for crying out loud, discuss it there

AMEN
I have mixed feelings about not being able to drop the flag.
On one side, it does promote teamwork, to get a capture.
But, the flag carrier should decide if he needs to have the flag or be defending himself from a warthog with his rocket launcher.
I will see finally when the game comes out in a couple months!
It’s not doing anything to encourage teamwork. It is just encouraging being attached at the hip.
You may run at regular speed, but your opponents can still sprint at you[FYI, sprinting is faster than walking.].
I have to admit, this is a weird one.
On the one hand I see where they want to stop flag juggling, but we only do that because you move faster that way. Why couldn’t they just let you move at normal speed? Then we wouldn’t juggle the flag.
On the other hand, all you have to defend yourself with is a pistol? When everyone coming after you will have something bigger with a longer range?
This will be interesting, indeed.

you move at normal speed now
Please, no more flag threads. I can’t take it!

Can’t sprint, though.
