I mean don’t you want to get around the map faster? Can you let this thread die please
You just started another sprint thread. Please stop.
Some people say that it creates a false since of speed. I just like not feeling like a Mall Walker with a gun when I play halo

Map is designed to acommodate sprint speed, heavily implied by map designers.
10 seconds on a map for sprint is still 10 seconds on a map not designed for sprint without sprint.

Oh sorry I just wanted to know why,

??? so wait you just said the same thing… Twice…
Maybe it is time for a Sprint mega-thread.

Spark notes: people feel you should always have your weapon available at all times. That’s the extent of it.

Sprint, split screen, elites…give them all a pinned mega thread so we can kill all those discussions off.

Oh I get it now. Thanks
Why don’t people get that sprint is really just an illusion!? It doesn’t help get around the map faster, the map has to be scaled up to accommodate sprint, meaning walking in Halo 3 will be the same thing as sprinting in Halo 5. The only difference is that you lower your weapons when you sprint.
Or maybe it’s time for people to use the search function and read the hundreds of threads with dozens of pages that develop extensively this aspect, which, in this case, is certainly not limited to a matter of “getting around the map faster”.
Sprint and virtually all AAs ruin map design. Ability-centric map design ruins overall gameplay and takes skill right out of the equation. Halo: Reach, Halo 4 and now Halo 5 are definitive proof of that.

This is what I have gathered from the arguments on waypoint.
- Basically Sprint is an illusion. Take Truth from Halo 5 and Midship from Halo 2, apparently it takes the same amount of time in Halo 5 to get around the map when sprinting compared to just walking around the map in Midship in Halo 2. Essentially the maps are scaled up and you get the impression that you are saving time when in fact you are just doing the same thing.
- Sprint allows for new features like Spartan charge to be introduced.
- If its not from the original trilogy its not good.
- Sprinting puts the player at risk when they have to re aim there weapon after sprinting.
- Weapons have to be re balanced for sprint
- Removes gameplay features like duel wielding
- No skillCorrect me if I’m misinformed but these are the main points I have seen, admittedly I don’t really bother reading the for or against Sprint threads.

So it’s the maps, not sprint?

You can design a map for non-sprint speed and have sprint in the game.

That immersion though.

thank you for clearing this up, but really? thrusters weren’t from the original trilogy and no one complains about that

Why can’t you understand that some people like sprint because it allows you to move faster at any time? It’s not about getting from point A to point B faster.
It’s like this “illusion argument” is all you guys have and you ignore the above point because if you acknowledge it you got nothing.

If maps were scaled down the community would complain that Spartans are running around to fast, is a lose lose argumeant.
